Might be the Cam Smith style of resting where it's only the last few minutes. Maybe the last 15 if Storm are up massive, but I'm optimistic that Sharks can hang in somewhat..

Be handy to know his starting squad, that’s probably where you make the most ground, not trading
Brain bit a bit harsh, but I imagine he didn’t do a lot of research into his picks, just chased the points and where the buzz was and got away with it

Initial thought was Hynes but if Sharks get rolled, Trindall scores like ass. Trindall kicks though, Hynes won't.

Probably the best way to go, instead of overthinking it.

Besides, without looking too much into it, I am sure there a many instances where he didn't jump on the flavour of the weeks that others did that failed.

The 'groupthink' and 'flavour of the week' terms get thrown around pretty often, and then those people trade in the same players anyway once they get off their high horse.. Laughing

The masses trading in the same handful of players each week is usually because there's been a role change, whether it's more minutes, starting, shifted to a more favourable position, more carries, bottomed out price etc.

If you're not trading in those guys, then you're pretty much just taking a punt on someone randomly hitting a purple patch and getting lucky.

Hahaha exactly, this is my 4th or 5th year of fantasy and every time I flop/miss an obvious trade in it's because I'm way too stubborn and think I know better than everyone else. I didn't even trade in Turbo this year until he was 700k (I don't wanna talk about it Sad lol), did the same with Crichton 2017 etc. That being said though winning the game is mostly just needing a massive run of luck, you can have every reason and perfect justification to make a season defining trade and they can still do their hammy in the 20th minute to completely ruin your weekend/season

The thing I took from the dude in firsts trades are that while they were all pretty ‘standard’, there were no trades that I would say “wtf was s/he thinking”. I always have a few of those.

I reckon overall it’s a very similar set of trades  to what successful players here would come up with.

mattnz wrote:Unbelievably he was 3 weeks late on both Cleary and Turbo, the 2 most important players to have this season. Also 7 rounds late on CHN, didnt get iPap until round 18, Curran round 23! Are you sure this was the guy that came 1st?

The only good things that seemed to work in his favour were ditching guys early when they were injured long term or suspended like Papy and Fifita. Must have got really lucky being able to field 17+ each week.

Bit of tall poppy syndrome going on here IMO. Blokes leading, which IMO takes both skill AND luck, and whilst he may have been late on Cleary and Turbo he wasn’t too stubborn to refuse like many, and got on board when he could. Pretty easy to sit bank miles behind and claim he got lucky whilst you got unlucky.

Maybe a congrats, well played and good luck for the final round might be more appropriate.

People like MTB, Honey Badger, Milchow etc etc don’t rank so high every year on luck. MTB has had an outlier this year obviously with some bad luck, but I’d bet my left nut he is back at the pointy end next year.

TLDR, bad luck can kill you, good luck isn’t the sole ingredient to success.

    Exactly.

You’d could put any decent players trades up without context and go, HeS jUsT fOlLoWiNg ThE cRoWd.

I would have rather being accused of following the crowd than waiting until after Origin to pick up Turbo Evil or Very Mad
