663 with 4 to play. If by 1100 you mean 800 then maybe!Chucky wrote:912 with 4 to play.
Everyone’s hitting 1100 this round, right?

‘Picking’ a captain is something I try to avoid if possible. Get the highest averaging player in the comp into your team and just leave it there as long as possible. Let the superior average look after you in the long run.MayorofAlburquerque wrote:Howdy Y'all,
I don't know about you, but I'd be glad to see the end of captain picks in fantasy. Its just another element of random chaos to contend with that can really fuck a season/round. Its just as punitive for getting the choice wrong as it is rewarding for getting it right. Its hard enough just trying to field a team of players who don't get hurt/rested/suspended.
Now, granted, this is coming from a Turbo owner but Haas captain-er, and granted, I probably wouldn't be saying it if I'd C'd Turbo like any not-overly-cautious-of-resting, sane fantasy coach, or if Haas had gotten a decent 60, or If Turbo had stayed on -1 after 8 minutes. But the disparity between 32 and 300 is crushing. That's a score of 894 over 760 (and would have capped off a huge late season surge from outside the top 7000 into top 2500 probably - remarkably its only cost me 21 places).
Anywho, thanks for permitting that as anyone else I would complain about this too just wouldn't get it.

Yep, play captaincy like poker. You might be wrong here and there, but if you make the correct decision over a long period of time, the variance will even out.Liverpool_Bulldog wrote:

I think I may have tried it one year haha ended badly, not as badly as this season though. This one for the booksSnatchpato wrote:

Alternatively, if you try and "pick" the highest scoring player for a given week you could be right, but over a long period of time with that strategy, it will fail. No one is lucky enough to beat variance with a bad strategy over a long period of time.
