Trbo enters the last round $98k cheaper then Cleary, will end the year the most expensive player off back of 5 round average of 107.

Trbo and DCE doing wonders for me. Was happy making it into the top 15k last week but now I'm wondering how close I get to 10k on a score of 858 with 4 to play. Need fifi and fog to go large and claw me back a bit more respectability.
Feels like there could be some real value to be had next year with some of the backs floating round. The previously mentioned raiders, but also maybe cobbo, hamiso, Niu even and plenty more im sure I've missed. Should be good team planning those first weeks leading into TLT

    Howdy Y'all,

I don't know about you, but I'd be glad to see the end of captain picks in fantasy. Its just another element of random chaos to contend with that can really fuck a season/round. Its just as punitive for getting the choice wrong as it is rewarding for getting it right. Its hard enough just trying to field a team of players who don't get hurt/rested/suspended.

Now, granted, this is coming from a Turbo owner but Haas captain-er, and granted, I probably wouldn't be saying it if I'd C'd Turbo like any not-overly-cautious-of-resting, sane fantasy coach, or if Haas had gotten a decent 60, or If Turbo had stayed on -1 after 8 minutes. But the disparity between 32 and 300 is crushing. That's a score of 894 over 760 (and would have capped off a huge late season surge from outside the top 7000 into top 2500 probably - remarkably its only cost me 21 places).

Anywho, thanks for permitting that as anyone else I would complain about this too just wouldn't get it.

I'd be happy enough removing captain as I think it would open up more ways to build teams

‘Picking’ a captain is something I try to avoid if possible. Get the highest averaging player in the comp into your team and just leave it there as long as possible. Let the superior average look after you in the long run.

Yep, play captaincy like poker. You might be wrong here and there, but if you make the correct decision over a long period of time, the variance will even out.

Alternatively, if you try and "pick" the highest scoring player for a given week you could be right, but over a long period of time with that strategy, it will fail. No one is lucky enough to beat variance with a bad strategy over a long period of time.

It's crazy to think he has scored more points than Cleary since Cleary's return from injury - despite playing 1 less game (and considering Cleary has bannered and averaged over 80 in that period)

It's definitely been a different sort of competition this year

    Howdy LB, Snatchpato

Please don't confuse this with captaincy roulette. And be damned if 'pick your highest averaging player' isn't the 'Topes usual rule. Captain Cleary was easy most of the year. This was a Rd 25 special. Consider the extenuating circumstances - Manly would easily win, why risk 20-30 minutes of your most important player in the second half where an injury might occur. In isolation, was Haas a bad captain choice? A player averaging 79 (albeit an outside back) vs a player averaging 64 shouldn't necessarily result in a 168 point discrepancy in scores because luck/chance strikes and someone gets hurt. Its ridiculous to think that a fullback is the most reliable scorer in the space of half a season, given the way the scoring dynamic has changed from HKR to MID to HLF to FB.

I think it was 2019 where Fifita and Cook were the two viable, equal captaincy options averaging +65 (the last time Andrew Fifita was relevant). In Rd 9 Fifita hurt his knee and scores 11, Cook scores 98. That's 174 points. That's a season changing decision right there, and not one necessarily predicated on good vs bad decision-making or trying to pick the highest scoring player.

The game has changed it's now much faster & imo the way we look at fantasy will have to change because the ball is spread out wide more often & there seems less for the middles to do. So hookers & props & locks are yesterday & edge 2fr's & wingers are the future but the 2 positions that are really thriving are halves & f/b's.

I'm currently 915 with D. Fifita & Walsh to play but it seems lowish compared to some other big potential scores I've read in here this morning.

You reckon that’s low? I’m pretty happy with that?

I’m 845 with AFB, Curran, Walsh, Fifita. I don’t think that will see my climb to much higher.
