Turbos last few scores would have really annoyed those who tore their team apart to get Cleary back.
Particularly if they were now playing short as a result. The Cleary v no Cleary finish was always going to be a huge call
Yeah, Turbo over Cleary would have been a better play. I also grabbed DCE after his banner at 927K I think it was. That may have been one of my silliest moves when I could have gone Turbo instead. Maybe there was a positional issue that made me get DCE though, I can't recall.

I didn't get Cleary back due to lack of trades & money. I could of got him with my last 2 trades but punted on Turbo outscoring Cleary re the captaincy so used my last 2 trades to bolster up my depth. I could of brought in Cleary & Blore but got C. Murray & Pappy instead.

Had a nearlysport team - was minor premiers in his comp. Unfortunately crashed out in the preliminary final, but will win the 3rd place play off comfortably.
Not bad for a guy who started the year only knowing 4 NRL players, and whose initial recruitment strategy was to go for players who shared a first name with his friends. (Alex Twal, James Tedesco, David Fifita, Andrew McCullough, Brian To'o were his big performers)
Solid set of friends names there!
Like you I'm I finished ranked in the 8000s. Unlike you, I couldn't quite swing the private comp. We moved from Nearly to NRLCeo this year, and I lost the final.

Hard to pinpoint where my problems were without doing a bit of analysis but off the top of my head starting with Tino was a mistake compounded by holding him too long. Also getting Tupouniua before Keary got injured & holding him right trough to the end & near the end of the season all the outside back injuries meant he spent a bit of time in the backline scoring sfa. However he hardly got injured which meant at least he was ready to suit up most weeks. Also holding Schuster when he was only supposed to be out for a few weeks I probably would of been better off selling him instead of keeping him.

Ended with 835 from 10 players to end on rank 1323. Was ranked 773 in Round 24 so I'm holding on to that... Round 25 didn't happen
Plenty of good and bad moves during the year. Hard to pinpoint them all, may go more in-depth in my team tracker later today.
Off the top of my head...
GOOD: Getting on Walsh/Manu/Gamble early, starting with Cleary/Fifi/Papi, holding Fifi all the way through?
BAD: Holding Momo too long, trading Avo out early AND trading him back in for a slump, trading out Croker early, Ponga, Radley, going Thompson over Jackson, not getting on IPap or Turbo early
Ah well - still a decent finish all things considered. Been a pleasure fellas, back into it again next year

Congrats everyone who managed a top 100 finish and anyone who won a club voucher this year.
I had a disappointing finish after being ranked 88th with 2 weeks to go. Ended up finishing 309th. Got hammered with suspensions and injuries in the last 2 weeks, or ran out of luck like some would say.
Finished 16th in FOG so hopefully that means the Zazu Knights are back with the big boys next year

Howdy Y'all,
Kicking the carcass of my team and looking back at my spreadsheets.
Fun fact - Over the course of 25 rounds the Tope's had 66 games missed by red dot players, or 61 if you remove players selected for Origin.
On average 2.64 (or 2.44 depending on the numbers used) players were unavailable each week after trades.
Granted, most of these are probably Papenhuyzen sitting on the pine, but it was worth holding him for his Rd25 103 (wasn't it?).
Given some of the shocking luck going on around the forum over the year, surely there are some of you out there who did worse?
The Mayor.

Final rank 774. Just glad I managed to stay in the 1k. Was touch and go with the carnage the last few rounds.
Big thanks to all the posters on here, makes the season much more fun.
Congrats to those that finished in the top 100 and to those that had their best season. If you had a bad one, shrug it off and bounce back next season.

Thanks mate. I know, I get busy with work and family and then spend my whole time catching up rather than posting

1,745th overall for me. not bad and a big jump from where I was placed mid-season. won a couple of H2H leagues, including the survivor league , so happy about that.
normally focus on H2H, but might switch to an overall focus and try and be more aggressive early on next year. holding back trades does help at the back end, but never as much as i hope.

Crashed out with a 6k rank you live by the sword, you die by the sword. More importantly, AJ has been found.

Looking back for me, the good was not starting with Teddy. Meant i missed his massive price drop. I was then able to go RTS to Teddy for a small profit. Not starting with Teddy meant I had extra money to spend on a mid. I started with Paulo. Even though Paulo turn out to be a flop he saved his first two scores with tries. As soon as he peaked I traded him to Tohu.
I also took a punt on the cheese. Even though he started slow he went on a try scoring run and I kept him all year.
I picked up Burton for the first bye and he turned out to be handy cover for Cleary. I held Cleary and managed to gain ranks over this time.
I waited 2 weeks on Turbo. As soon as he got thru those first two games I jumped on.
I didnt hold onto paps too long. Traded him to iPap.
The bad:
Didnt jump on Hynes. First trade was Croker to Davey.
Starting with Roberts. Trading in Cini after listening to one of those fantasy podcasts and hearing one of the guys go on about how much of a gun cini was. This was disappointing because I normally go with my own gut.
Trading in Radley with one of my last few trades. He was too much of a risk at that stage of the season with his suspension loading.
Luke Thompson getting 3 week suspension, coming back then getting suspended again really hurt in the last 2 weeks as well.

Plenty of folding time for Kane Evans.
Judiciary: Kane Evans looking at 6-7 weeks for two separate charges. Matt Lodge 1, Reece Walsh 1. Monetary fines for Rein, Fogarty, Wallace, Tevaga and also Shawn Blore @NRLcom

Congrats to everyone who did well this year. Big thanks to all the contributors. This is the friendliest most supportive on-line forum going around (kudos to the mods here).
PS: Imagine winning overall knowing that the decision to Captain Turbo instead of Cleary in the final round was the difference between finishing first or second. Courageous!!

Ended up ranked 21 by the looks and Averillo got me home in the Broncos League finally after a few close calls. Wonder if they’ll mind if I use the voucher to get a Storm jersey?
Did however lose my h2h cash league to a 1st year rookie who only won 2 games all year. The semi and the GF. We only had 4 players so he auto qualified for the finals and his random pod picks gunned it when required. Very embarrassing!
Edit: also a big thanks to the regulars and new posters for their contributions and keeping this place fun, and ticking over.
See y’all next time!

Shoutout to @No Worries for setting up the leagues across different platforms and the eliminator. Appreciate your work.
