Never mind playing for multiple clubs, they'll never make someone an immortal who pissed off to play union for a year.

It's already a bloated concept - 13 is too many. Big Mal played a long time, especially for his era, but really shouldn't be in there. Not sure about Provan either.

NRL.com just emailed out a fantasy survey to canvas opinions on options going forward….not sure it makes any difference but filled it in anyway

No mention of bigger squads just some ‘more trade’ options, I plugged a larger squad in the optional section

I assume it’s easier to fuck up adding more trades than it is to fuck up expanding squad size 😂

Yeah I went for larger squad in “other” as well. Makes sense when you consider 17 teams in 2023 just announced too.

I think 25 with 4 emergency auto subs like now, and the 4 extras being inactive would be good.

But seems extra trades more likely. If they keep it reasonable (small increase), or had like a 40-50pt hit for an extra trade, it’d be ok.

Cody Walker won the George Piggins Medal as Souths best of the year it comes as no surprise. He also won Burrow award, players player and Souths cares award. Murray won members player Ta’affe rookie of year and Nicholls clubman of year.

Souths have announced the following 10 departing players:

Adam Reynolds, Dane Gagai, Jaydn Su’a, Benji Marshall, Braidon Burns, Patrick Mago, Steven Marsters, Troy Dargan, Josh Cook and Brock Gardner.

So far we have only signed Milford and his contract might yet be torn up.

I know we are looking to upgrade 8 juniors to our top 30 which include 5 of Ta’affe, Ilias, Mamozelos, Moale and Bjoric....

Rumours are we have signed Siliva Havili and Michael Chee Kam bit nothing offical yet.

I think we may be on the look for a centre possibly but don’t have too much money to spend after all the upgrades we have to do Eg: Latrell, Cody, Campbell, Murray, Keaon, Nicholls (in talks to stay on an upgraded deal)

Dean Hawkins and Tautau Moga are apparently staying but not sure if they’re in our top 30 or just on reserve grade contracts.

    ^^ Good info, thanks

I saw Walker is getting offered a long term deal after Reynolds was not, even though he’s actually older. I think it’s a bit of a beatup - it’s not as simple as comparing ages - but interested in what you think.

    Survey things to plug:

*Larger squad sizes (back to 25)
    *Bring back ranked leagues

And now the toughest part - MORE CUTS

Manly farewell 5 - Sironen (UK), Suli (Dragons), Funa, Gosie, Saddler

Funa cut the same day they re-signed Taufua, who was behind him all year and is much older, seems harsh. Boyle also re-signed, and Bullemore confirmed

Storm farewell 11, beating the Dragons (10) for highest turnover so far - Finucane & Hynes (Sharks), JAC (Bulldogs), then the cuts: Lee, Pene, Booth, King (just signed with Bulldogs), Turahai, Jacks, Atkinson, Smoothy

Also Bulldogs looking at Burns as a winger. Could see him there R1 2022 but NO BUYS as a fantasy asset.

Pene signed for Warriors...I like the way he plays hits it up & saying to defenses smash me if you can

Wonder if Davey will get an edge next season with Sironen and Gosie gone. Schuster and Haumole as competition for a spot. Should at least get a bench spot and maybe some time in the middle. Would be a must have to start the season at $246k.

Pretty sure Booth got signed by the Titans as well - could be a starter next year

Will be one to watch in pre-season. He seemed to rank ahead of them back at the start of the year, but Schuster and Haumole both had pretty good year and may have cemented themselves as starters

In many ways I hope he starts from the bench. Many will avoid him at the start of the season. If he starts round 1 he will be in all serious teams.

Davey is a journeyman that ain't taking the place of Schuster or Haumole, now that they've cemented themselves as first graders with big futures ahead of them.

    Yeah right.

He'll pick up a deal at a bottom 8 club and the starting 2rf will get injured the week before kick off.

    Gosi will emerge

I actually think this is it. Walker started pretty late in NRL and probably has more footy left in him. It’s like he’s a decent used sports car that’ll still turn heads whereas Reynolds is the Carolla with 400,000kms on the clock and a few dents and scratches.
