Canberra Raiders' Joe Tapine still considering COVID vaccine options

Joe Tapine is still deciding whether he'll get vaccinated against COVID-19 and is yet apply for an exemption. The New Zealand international has had the coronavirus, making him eligible for a four-month medical exemption from being vaccinated - which would allow him to play in Queensland in Rd 2 and 8. Tapine could be forced to sit out another four games in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Melbourne.

Is Bullemore a trap? I swapped him out for Nanai as I have adequate mid cover. Surely a 65 min Nanai outscores Bullemore (who may only be starting for 4 weeks? I don’t get the Bullemore love.

Isn't Schuster out for 6 weeks?

What would change with my theory? Cheese playing lock and Grant playing 9, just means the 1-2 punch starts from the opening kick rather than waiting until the 30 minute mark when Grant comes on. I just think our forward depth is pretty low and it's not like Grant is some backup bench hooker who can't play big minutes. Just IMO but I feel this is something that coule definitely happen, especially if King doesn't perform.

The whole point of the strategy was to have teams have to defend Cheese for 20 mins and then have Grant coming on fresh and ready to rip in. Starting them both makes it less effective, it's the same reason why NAS doesn't start, since him coming on keeps up momentum, whereas if he started, there would be a drop in momentum at the 30-40 minute mark.

I don't think there is Bullemor love. He's cheap and he is starting, at least for now, and I guess he is a signing that Manly went after.

Bullemor - probably relegates to bench when everyone if available.
Nanai - bit of an unknown, really. Cowboys have a couple of options there and he plays in what is expected to be a poor team. Payten could shuffle mins.
Tualagi - Garner has been MIA (injury?), but is named on bench. Could spell him. Could even replace him within a week or two.

    Make your guesses

What position is Jayden Nikorima going to play for the Storm? I can't work out their bench.

He'll play the Hynes/Meaney role this week and then drop out next week as Munster comes back and Meaney takes the bench spot.

Oh understandable, my suggestion is mostly based around the fact that if Smith starts at 13 then it probably ensures that Nikorima is not on the bench lol!

I'm was in the same boat, I still think there is a good chance he starts @ 9 so may still send it, King is no Finucane.

I feel like there was more skill needed when Cleary was available than not. So believe it has the opposite effect most think.

He will play the same role as Finucane, but fewer minutes (40ish instead of the 55 that Finucane was getting)

Cheese/Grant may get a few more between them, but I think most of it would go to the #16 player (Loiero this week but could be Eisenhuth or Lewis later)

Nanai can not be picked as MID.

Name a better MID for under $400k? It is not so much that people love Bullemor, more that he is just looks better than all the other options in that price bracket. If you don't go him its either find cash to upgrade, or put your faith in a bench prop like Fifita/King/etc

I think Bullemor will score well as long he starts - but as you say may just be for a few weeks. Just hope someone good turns up in the mean time.

Pool of players being picked from is about the same, but If nothing else it has put a lot more variety into captaincy choice

priced at 30 and averaged 33 when playing 30+ minutes last year

If he consistently gets over 40 minutes then I can see some value. Less value than Bullemor but with better job security (depending on how worried you are about McClean getting a starting spot back)

He averaged 38.6 and 35.3 minutes in the last two season and only averaged 36.1 and 28.4 pts a game. He is priced at 30 points and I can't see him upping those minutes too much. So unless he has all of a sudden become a barnstorming runner then there isn't much value a part from a potential very long, slow burn.

Roger, thanks mate. So you think Cheese stays @ 9 next week and moving forward then? Makes King look pretty nice.
