I don't think you're chasing points with Haas - he should score well consistently week-to-week.

The question really is why didn't you pick him to start with? Was there a strategy with that?

    - Haas (classic case of chasing points, frowned upon by the forum)
    - Grant (straight swap with Mahoney before Reed loses too much cash)
    - Mann (swap Taumalolo for cash for similar scores)
    - the other King (Job security and minutes shouldn't be a problem with the loss of Welch and Cheese)
    - Tuilagi (one of the cows I missed)
    - Kobe (not the basketball legend, a few unknowns here but provides nice Mid/Hok cover)

Burton is my center and I am not going to trade my keeper center.

Lolo is a different story. There is nothing in the 1st game to indicate he will be used any different from how he was used last year. Any thoughts on him? Sell or persist for few weeks?

Your team must be nice if your only trade out option is Bird.

No Ilias or other potentially dud cows to release?

I ended up on Haas because he felt like the safer captain option week in, week out (despite not captaining him this week). But, its been one week. When Crichton and Ipap go over for tries next week all things will be equal again.

On hindsight ,everyone should have jumped on Haas with the Cleary news. But no one expected other guns to regress from their average in the 1st game of the season and Haas to exceed it.

It will probably even out a bit as the season progresses but Haas would still be above the others in the season avg category.

He played more minutes on Friday than he did in any game but one last year, and scored a good 20 points over his 2021 average

He was never a bad choice as captain. But anyone who said they expected 70 minutes and that sort of score is lying. Nice bonus to people who went with him, but nothing to beat yourself up about. Could very easily happen next week that Haas scores in the 50s and Crichton/Fifita bust out a century.

Yeah look was a roller coaster weekend.

    THE BAD
Brandon Smith - Captain - injured
Billy Smith - Injury? What happened
Uto - Was the one I expected to come back down to earth
    Ilias - gets another week

    THE GOOD
    Bullemor
Mann - spent time at HOK but was killing it before being shoved there
Paulo - Good score with no tries
Bench - Randall, Katoa, Nanai, Schneider
Billy Walters - Surely wins the gig
    Both kings Smile

    Trade out options:
    Billy Smith, Brandon Smith

    Trade in options:
    Tuilagi, Tago, Haas

Brandon will be very cheap a couple weeks after he gets back.

I thought the tackle break nerf would affect Haas, didn't expect him to offload as much as he did.
Ended up with Mahoney as my captaincy option, I didn't expect him to be outscored by every player in my team except Ilias, Amone & Vailea.
I can easily downgrade Taumalolo to a cow (JKing) and get Haas in this week, and probably have enough cash to get Grant in next week.
I don't mind a bit of a pivot in the early rounds just to get the team balance right.

Do we remember a couple years ago when Carrigan burst onto the scene. It appears he and Haas were rotating on minutes every week. One week Haas would get 70-80 and Carrigan 50-60 then the next week Haas would get 50-60 and Carrigan 70-80... coincidence?

Would be quite funny if it is Haas who ends up playing more minutes in 2022, after we spent a pre-season convincing ourselves that certain other players would.

I don't think it continues though.

On Harry Grant... I'm only really interested in regular 70+ mins Harry, not sure if that's on offer yet

My thinking on no Haas was that he was slightly overpriced based on his 2021 stats. A bit underpriced based on 2020 stats, Figured he was more likely to replicate 2021 than 2020 so gave him a miss thinking he was unlikely to jump out of price range.

Went Fifita figuring that even if he didn't replicate the 17 tries, he wouldn't be playing off the bench and that might make up for it. Know he has some low scores in him, and away against Parra was one of the likely low scores. If I had Mahoney I probably would have captained him ahead of Fifita this week. And pre game if you'd offered me 51 I would have accepted it, only becomes disappointing when you know the Titans scored 28 points, and he just bludged out near the wing (and when you know what Haas scored as well)

Totally agree. Haas has more support this season than any other.
When Hetherington and Flegler are back, he will be back to a 60-65 minute role.
Offloads far above any other game. If he reverts to 1 per game average, that is 12 less points than he scored in round 1. Less 5-10 mins per game loses another 5-10 points, and you are suddenly in 62-67 points per game territory.

That was Mahoneys lowest score in 80 mins since R13, 2019

It was his lowest score in more than 40 mins (basically excluding early injuries) since R15, 2020

I guess my thinking is that I didn't go Fifita eiter and now my only real captain option is Cook.  It's only one round but need another safety captain option.

I took on AFB and was hoping for more.  Early days though. We go through these reactionary processes every year.
