    This week thinking TPJ and Bully to Mann and Starling
    Good or chasing last week too much?

    Leaves me with 222k ITB and:

    Cook
    King, Yeo, King
    DFifi, Nanai
    Mann, Schnieder
    Burton, Tago
    Papy, Hynes, Critta

    Randall, Starling, Thompson and one of Ilias, Leniu, Walters, Paulo

    If not those trades, have a week off or should I drop others from above?
    Mann is great value. Well worth getting him in your team.

    28k out of range, could do Billy smith or Ilias but would hurt the Cleary fund

    Fermor will be out of reach until he stops scoring tries. Without those his base stats aren't reliable enough

    R3: Crichton + Amone to Starling + Thompson

    This round: Mahoney + Bully to Cleary + Jones

    No regrets so far. Kicking myself because I only brought in Amone because I wanted Crichton. My alternative was Sexton + Lolo so really not a huge net loss in points regardless, cannot be too unhappy.

    Rd2: nil

    Rd3:
    Clark to Starling
    Bullemor to Jack Hetherington Sad

    Rd4: Hetherington to someone (Jones if named otherwise May)

    I also don't have any obvious trade outs to build a Cleary fund. Not going to force it so will just deal with Mad Jack and reassess next week, as someone said an injury can change everything in a weeks time.

    R2: JDB + Billy Smith out for Ming and Tago

    Should’ve started with them both so a bit behind from the get go

    R3: Tuilagi + Angus for Curran and Sexton

    Getting some better scorers in

    R4: Mahoney + Bully for Starling and Thompson (right now)

    Building Cleary cash. Probably a week behind on these trades but wanted to be sure of their roles before getting burnt. Happened too many times before. Cost me a bit more $$ though

    Looking at those trades you should keep the rage going they are quite good. You dodged alot of cash loss and got haas

    Yeah Mahoney not living up to his captaincy potential and Haas offloading like mad in round 1 made me adjust quickly.
    Both Tolo and Uto have been scoring well below expectations, so it turned out to be a 'Neo dodging bullets' kind of trade.

    Round 2:

    Erin Clark (31+39 = 70) + Billy Smith (17 + 40) to Nanai (17+62=79) + Tuilagi (17 + DNP)

    Not great trades but should work out long term.

    Round 3:

    Bulemor + Ilias to Tago + Thompson.

    Really happy with these trades.

    Rd 2 Coates + Fermor --> Tago + MKing

    Rd 3 Tuilagi + Angus --> Yeo + Thompson

    Rd 4 Bullemor + TPJ --> Starling + Mann

    Pretty happy on the whole other than losing Fermor.

    Just annoyed my Angus and TPJ punts didnt pay off, but gotta cut your losses before they cost you too much

    I'm in the camp of not tearing my team apart to get Cleary in. Happy to wait 2-4 rounds and cash out players like Nanai/Ming/Jing/Thompson to fund it whilst Cleary drops back under $950K (I'm hoping)
    Only takes one score in the 50s and the price drops will come.

    Just the one trade so far: Russell -> Thompson last round.

    This round most likely Mahoney + Lolo -> Cleary and Jones.

    I think one thing we need to be wary of is bias stemming from optimism. I am one of the worst for it. A recurring theme throughout my seasons is being willing to go without cover (oh just one more week without cover won't hurt, look at this new shiny cow I absolutely must get in!). As a result, last season I played with 13 one round, and the season before 14, when one of those injury-rich rounds occured. This has been addressed this year by putting cover over cash generation (i.e. having BSmith and XCoates). I also have no issue with playing "cashies" who should be locked away in the 18-21 as starters. This is something I am still doing this season.

    It is interesting to see the Cleary bias this time around. "ohh i'll just wait a couple weeks and Cleary will likely drop some cash, won't be a problem". He was the best scorer by a mile last season, and with the addition of Captain points it seems that even if he does drop to 950k, that 100k price drop is still going to net you plenty of points over the 3 rounds or so it'll take him to get there. On the flip side, people are trading in Cleary with minimal consideration that games seem to be slower as a whole with a bunch of nerfs affecting players that love a fast-paced game to build momentum and score plenty of points (best example of this is Turbo).

    Personally? I'm trading in Cleary, I just think it's interesting seeing a lot of bias come to the fore when we discuss players.

    If you asked me before R1 where I'd be ranked right now, I'd tell you I think my team has plenty of upside and I would be at minimum in the top 1k. I'm ranked 16k. It's so hard to make objective decisions and of course anybody you ask who has their mind set on a certain trade or a strategy will swear black and blue and mention a bunch of statistics to support their ideas, but very infrequently does a plan come to fruition to the degree imagined.

    I am starting to realise that keeping it simple stupid is often a great strategy. Don't overthink things, just fucking do it.

    Sorry for the wanky post, I've got Covid and bored shitless.

    For those hopping on Jones if he starts, would also need to see how the judiciary thing goes with Barnett tonight. Would be thinking 4 weeks minimum, personally I reckon 5-6 weeks so Jones should have good JS if so.

    2022 Trades:

    Round 2: n/a
    Round 3:
    OUT: Utoikamanu, Tuilagi
    IN: LTHompson, Starling
    Round 4: no idea but leaning towards Bully out for Jones if he's named and sit.
