    Thought this was interesting from SMH over the weekend.  Reported that one of the NRL coaches had provided stats to NRL HQ comparing first 3 rounds of 2022 vs first 3 rounds of 2021.  Arguing that not enough fatigue in the game and best players being taken out of the limelight as a result.  Most surprising to me was how less ground the players covered during a game.  Eg Fullbacks a full km less, which I think is more than 10% reduction.

    The findings are surprising and include:
    ■ There were 319 more runs made by players in the opening three rounds of 2021 compared to the first three rounds of 2022;
    ■ Total metres made were 2456 more in 2021 compared to 2022;
    ■ Total line breaks were 12 more in 2021 compared to 2022;
    ■ There were 28 more offloads in 2021 compared to 2022, indicating there are more players in tackles;
    ■ There have been 151 more penalties in 2022 compared to 2021 following the change to the six-again rule, which is the big difference in the way the game is being played. That’s 151 more stoppages. Each penalty takes about 30 seconds from the time they are blown to play restarting, so that’s 75 minutes extra time lost in the first 24 games of the season. There has been an average of 12 penalties a game in 2022, adding up to about six minutes of wasted time each game;
    ■ There were 159 six agains in the first three rounds of 2021 compared to 87 in 2022, a difference of 72;
    ■ The GPS data is perhaps also revealing, the document showing fullbacks and hookers are running about one kilometre less each game in 2022 compared to 2021, and halves are running about 800 metres a game less.

    TLDR:  game a lot slower in 2022

    If you ever get called up for jury duty, please just tell the court that you don’t have the alleged offender in your fantasy team so you’ve already decided he’s guilty.

    If you see this as acceptable behaviour from your work mate, let me know where you work, as I never want to work there.

    Yep, players have been suspended for far less than assaulting their team mate, like urinating and simulating sex with a dog.

    Mate there are "assaulting a team mate" stories from every third or fourth week's training sessions. Nothing happens from these except a couple of articles.
    I get what you're trying to say and it's not a good look but I think this is being blown up into more than it is. Kelly more likely to miss games from this than Haas.
    Right or wrong if that's a member of the public on the other end of Haas's arm then it's a different story... but it's not. It's a drunk Albert Kelly and as far as we can tell there's no one else around. If more details emerge things could change but as far now I can't see Haas missing weeks.

    Players recently got 1-2 weeks for being caught doing class A drugs/caught by the police.

    No public or police involvement here and there won't be any police involvement.

    Again, not a good look but be surprised if its anything more than some kind of wrist slap.

    I sold him last week, but what's happened to Mahoney?

    Last 3 years he averaged 47, 46, and 45 tackles per game respectively.

    This year it's just 35, and his missed tackles have doubled to 3.5 from 1.8 last year.

    Other stats have remained relatively consistent, so it's really just tackles that are down. It's not like they've had blowouts where he hasn't had to tackle much eithe (until this week).

    As someone who sold him last round I was watching intently as he decided it was time to tackle everything in the first half. was on 28 tackles at half time, I think.

    Dragons barely had any ball in the second half so his scoring just .. stopped. Not really sure re his 'misses' but he did have one for the Sims try.. not much he could have done there really.

    Let me know when you’ve seen the rest of the footage, not just what’s been leaked to the media.
    In the meantime and in response to your query, I recommend you keep away from police stations.

    Haas is on a good behaviour bond for intimidating a female police officer, he can't get off scott free.

    Also to the forum - what's the DFifi story I can't find it ?

    Hey mate, memory is a bit lacking, can you remind me of how many games Riki and Flegler missed this year due to their punch up on Mad Monday 2021? Cheers

    That was the intention of the rule changes this year wasn't it?

    Fast game was leading to too many blowouts, so they deliberately slowed it down a bit. And at least for the moment, it appears t be having the desired effect. Probabl ymeans we have 5 weeks before they change the rules again for a different game

    More seriously, if Jock Madden had help onto that ball at the end, Tigers win and nobody questions their players getting a few points, and its not like they had anyone who really looked deserving of it.

    I though Starford T'oa performed his role well

    Why hasn't one of these local journos told us who is training at 6, that is the real scandal at the Broncos today.

      Current date/time is Sat Nov 23, 2024 12:58 pm
