Third vote for taking Ilias' score dans. Leo would need to score a meatie to be in the picture all things being equal, and even then may not beat that.

Hastings touched the ball 90 times last week and 102 times this week. Normal average for a half is about 50 I think
Surely keeps up a 50+ average there. 10-15 tackles, 100 run metres, 10-15 points from kick metres and he kicks goals which is about a 35-45 point base. Gonna get attacking stats if he keeps touching the ball that much.

He has made me 65k in the last two games (including today) smooths out my horrible trade-ins and my lack of trade-ins (i.e Taylan May was in my team before he started his run but I did not go through with it)

He was in my team all through pre season and then chickened out last minute which was weirdly the right decision then but seems a no brainer now if looking for a mid ranger.
Think he will be useful for a lot of people as hes at a nice price to switch from a maxed out cow. Ponga/Angus and some of the other fallen guns are in that difficult price range just slightly more expensive.

The most useful thing for fantasy is fairly high run metres could be part of the base as insurance for weeks when other stats are low. He does not mind charging into the line like a forward now and then, which ups the RMs and occasional TBs. Add that he's a pretty good defender so might have fewer missed tackles than most halves and there's a lot to like.
Not sure the ceiling is that high as Wests are still Wests and there aren't going to be a bucketload of tries on offer, but he's not bad for 500k.
The option at a similar price with higher upside if he gets his shit together (and Rnd13) but more risk is Keary.

I think he has a pretty high ceiling. Just scored 63 with 4 TBs as his only attacking stats. If you can put up 50-55 points of base as a half each week, he is going big sometimes, especially with the amount that he runs.rhinoceroo wrote:

I'm looking forward to running him next to Cleary and having Schneider as 18th man. A big upgrade on Leo.

Yeah, unless anything dramatic happens with injuries I'll probably bring him in for Nanai this week, for about 5k. You can't knock that. Though I do like watching Nanai & think he has potential to start putting up keeper scores at some point, might have to say thanks for the 140k and jump off the rollercoaster onto the Hastings Express.

Yeah for sure there is some rose tinted glasses in my projection but even at lowest calculations you’d like to think his floor is 40 and then the 50-60+ games will come even if they’re few and far between to pick him up to 45-50 average.

Yeah, he looks like a really good punt for 500K I'll admit.

Didn't take long for Holbrook to fuck things up. Must've confused CTR with MID. Possibly the worst fantasy team score in history from the Titans with a high of 42. That's gotta go on the coaching resume.
Cody Walker's try didn't matter in the end thankfully, but when he placed hands on the ball while AJ was still in possession, then released, that's offside. If AJ had let him take it, then play on. Video ref had it frozen clearly in view, so not sure how that slipped by.
Crazy win though. At least Hastings didn't fuck around before the attempts this time, but took the new number 6 to get the job done. Would be good if he'd work on those bullet passes though.
I vowed I wouldn't tip the Tigers again this year after the Warriors game.. Gonna be hard to stick to that after these last 2, but probably best for my sanity if I do. Some hope of not getting the spoon creeping in.

290/7 this week long way behind par so far. Walters, Fifita and Nanai dragging the team down. In the positive side new recruits Luki managed to match Wilton making that trade positive for the week (and he looked great, hoping he gets the 80 again next week) and Lolo was solid. Hoping Teddy and Grant and May can drag me back for the week.
Still think I'm going to hold Nanai and Crichton through R13.

Backing Cotric to have a big game of ball running against the Panthers, maybe even a meatie or two.

Few preseason predictions coming true
Titans don't have experienced heads in key positions and don't have any way to turn it around. Looking like a bottom 4 team
Souths missing the experienced halfback and will be lucky to scrape into the 8. This is what happens when club administration lets fans decide who to sign (https://bit.ly/3rNCPMZ) means you pay overs for a winger and are left with no money to spend in the important positions. ARey has shown this week he is still capable of leading an underperforming team to a win they probably have no right getting

Is everyone thinking of jumping on the Hastings bandwagon now? No not one of my POD's you're not.
Honestly I just bought him hoping for 40's as a mid-range value option with his switch to halfback but the signs looked good last night. Dominated the kicking over Brooks, nailed some sideline goal kicks and he loves to run the ball.
Wouldn't get ahead of myself and say he'll be a keeper but since he's taken charge of the team and has led them to two wins, I think he'll maintain a good base.
