Re: FPL 22/23
after this morning's games looks like i'm 16k overall. Will free hit for the upcoming double then trip cap in 36. Best ever year previously was 46k and 2,432pts so hoping I beat that this year.

The most common path has used all the chips now, so FH and TC left should have you flying. Congrats on a great season.

Thanks, I think this year felt easier by having Haaland in early and not having Liverpool assets as 'essential'. Meant cash could be splashed around more evenly.

Yeah that's super impressive, great season.
I'm 218k, only good for 9th in the fanatics league, pretty impressive showing.
I got Iheanacho and Havertz in my WC28 which hurt me. Then missed the deadline GW30 where I was going to do Ihenacho to Haaland, that hurt. Relatively happy with the season though. Also out of chips now.

Don't know how given the above discussion, but I appear to have Bradbury'd my way to 1st. Can't see it lasting though. Not expecting to add to the 20/21 league trophy

Re: FPL 22/23
missed trading salah in this week as it felt like a blink between gameweeks and my FH was a bust with KDB stinking it up and my lack of faith in estupian meaning i was behind the 8 ball...

Re: FPL 22/23
This was my first season playing FPL, there so much more luck involved than with NRL fantasy.
I have to laugh at the content creators at times and the amount of analysis they put into their choices only for it to backfire

I played for years very non-seriously - didn't even know you could take -4's, didn't understand how price changes worked, would miss deadlines etc. Then joined a league or two (including this one) and started paying a bit more attention.
Then in 20/21 I got off to a good start and starting paying a lot more attention and doing a bit of research, ended up with an absurdly high finish.
Then in 21/22 I got off to a better start and probably got a bit caught up in the content rabbit hole, chasing trends etc.
This year I've pared it back a bit and probably playing as well as 20/21 minus the same level of luck/variance. The scoring system is so simple and variance driven its probably not worth stressing about finishing 25th vs 25,000th vs 250,000th. It's snake and ladders to NRL Fantasy being chess.
But yeah, the game gets massively overcomplicated by all these content creators driving to generate income by offering the same insights.
Really it's not hard
- there's a bunch of stats available for free (actual fantasy points, some free expected fantasy points models, expected goals and assists)
- try and maximise the schedule (look 4-6 weeks ahead, not just this week)
- I never watch games, so read/watch a few things to get some game context (e.g. player X is now playing more advanced, player Y is more secure role due to whatever)
- mostly try and make transfers as late as possible (information more important than team value)
- be flexible
- don't think you're smarter than the room once the season settles down
- get lucky so 90% of your 50/50ish decisions are right
Last point most important.

Re: FPL 22/23
I made my ballsy Haaland to Kane (c) move on Saturday, only for team leaks on Sunday night to diminish its power a bit.
Have to say, this comp plus joining 1 other mini-league drove me to initially learn all the rules of FPL, then start playing a bit seriously. So thanks everyone. Will be back next year

Good season all. Not sure if i will be back next season, struggling to stay on top of things and feel like the second half of the year is going to be hectic.

Re: FPL 22/23
.
FPL is a simple fantasy game, but IMO it's made over-complicated by the ever-growing number of content creaters that exist.
There's a lot of luck involved, since the scoring primarily depends on goals being scored/not scored, and with team line-ups/player minutes being tricky to predict (e.g. Pep Roulette).
It's still fun to play though, and (for me) it makes the EPL more interesting to follow.

Will play this coming 23/24 season with a lot more knowledge

Chucked a team together without much thought the other day. Seems like the main decision will be whether to just run Haaland as the one premium or go Salah (or Kane) as well. I'd like Salah but then can't have Trent.

Interesting opening prices this season. There are only 4 players priced over 9.0 mill - Haaland (14.0), Salah (12.5), Kane (12.5), and KDB (10.5).

Can someone help out a blind man please. Can't find a thread for the 23/24 season or a league code. Cheers
