Re: R20 trade talk
$58k in the bank.
Probably need a good 17th man. Koula the most obvious upgrade target but is also our CTR cover
With Aitken and Burton there do we just play without cover and burn a trade if needed?
Otherwise its something like a Kennedy/Palasi double trade to cashout and best we can afford
Trading McInnes/Mahoney etc seems a little sideways to me but maybe we could make something work that way

Re: R20 trade talk
Do you think Erin Clark will be good enough to play for a month?
If we trade out Mahoney we kind of have to play him in the 17 (or hope for loop potential)

He has been playing really well in 13. He changed the game last week when he came on so is rewarded with a start. Surely a gamble but what's there to loose

Re: R20 trade talk
Is Hughes to Butcher, Mahoney to Haas, Koula to Talakai affordable? Or at least just the first two. I recognise this destroys our cover.

Re: R20 trade talk
Koula to Butcher gets us a decent 17th man.
If worried about CTR cover, then Matamua to Mbye gives us a cheap backup with job security.

Hughes + Mahoney to Haas + Butcher leaves us 67k for any potential Koula upgrade (so we could go Jackson Hastings if we didn't care about cover)
Another triple trade is Hughes/Mahoney/Koula to Cook/Butcher/Gagai with $0k to spare. But we'd have to play Gagai each week so maybe not the best

Re: R20 trade talk
I feel we either try and
1. Get a serviceable 17th man like Jele said.
Koula to Butcher
Leaves 4 trades for injuries which is how we deal with lack of coverage. This is key as we have no serviceable 18th man (Kennedy, Palasia, Pole, Matamua). As it gets later in the season we can look at sideways trades but as we only have 17 good players I'd want to keep them up our sleeve till needed.
2. make our best 17 which'd be two trades:
Kennedy to Mbye (gives WFB/CTR Coverage)
Koula to Haas (best player with cash available).
Leaves 3 trades for injuries. Again don't have good bench coverage so I'm hesitant to spend more trades.l
or
3. Make our best 17 but burn more trades making upwardly sideways trades
Mahoney to Haas
Hughes to Butcher
Koula to Hastings
Stolen from the cow but I see all of these as upgrades 10 - 15 point upgrades.
or
4. Make our best 18 which would be three trades to have some flexibility and cover for late outs.
Kennedy to Mbye (gives WFB/CTR Coverage and as much cash as possible)
Koula to Butcher
Palasia to Staggs/Mann
Personally I'm not a fan of this approach. Getting a bad 18th man and compromising the quality of our 17th while burning most of our trades seems suboptimal and playing scared.

Re: R20 trade talk
Good summary ranta
The trade poll has been up since this morning and it looks like option 2 is the clear preference.
Gives us a pretty good 17 but a very poor 18-21. We'll have 3 trades left which are probably best used as sideways trades to cover injuries to our 17 in the final week.
I'd be happy with option 2 or 3
(note that option 3 would leave us without CTR or HOK coverage though)

Re: R20 trade talk
Think coverage is a bit overrated when we have 17 good players and 4 20 point spuds.
I know that is better than a zero but Koula to Hass is a weekly 20+ point upgrade. Feel we need to focus on our 17 and have our trades act as coverage if that makes sense.
Personally thats why I voted for 3 but only 2 trades to cover injury could be very risky
