I think the giveaway really was the fact that he had to use his other hand to pick the ball up off the defender. Didn't have a grip on it to lift it with the one hand.

Ever seen a person hold a ball one handed with palm facing down?

Not sure how everyone knows he would have lost the ball without the man on the ground, seems like speculation to me.

All I saw was a man place a ball on an opponent, pick it up, then play it, never once losing control.

Edit: @filth just because he did pick it up, doesn't mean he had to. Seems smart to make sure of possession in an unfamiliar situation to me

If a player plants the ball on the marker's foot, it's always a knock-on. I don't see how it's different.

Update on where im sitting im getting more nervous. i went from strong favourite to now questioning it

    Murray 45 v Mcinnes
    Fifita v Butcher
    Burton v Aitken (33 in 64 minutes)
    Angus v Leilua (47 in 64 minutes)

    matching Captains.

TU: Hold and wort case go Elliott Booth to 220k Ofa
TD: Go down to 1 trade and go Elliott Palasia to Grant Tonupei

I much prefer Grant to Ofa

Mostly though, I just love it when a player is trying to milk a penalty instead of just getting on with it, and it backfires.

    I'm with you on this.
I don't think he knocked it on, I don't think he lost control, he was just placing it with the same grip he'd do putting it on the ground.
BUT if you're gonna try and milk a penalty by being a knob, then you get what you deserve imo.

The difference I see in the foot situation is these ones always result in the player losing control. I've not seen a player play the ball on a foot (without losing control) and it being called a knock on.

But it's not an unfamiliar situation for Curran! Laughing

That's what it's coming down to - some of us think he didn't have control, some think he did. I think there was enough evidence to suggest he didn't have control based on his fingers coming away from the ball and the second hand being used. Bunker certainly wasn't going to over rule the ref based on what we saw.

The game has plenty of "interesting" interpretations.
As long as they're consistent eh

A knock on is technically losing control of the ball and it being propelled forward. But, if a situation like Curran is always ruled that way then I've got no problem- especially if it removes that sort of petulant behavior.
Seriously, just step back and lay the ball lol

I went back because im bored. It is 100% a knock on. He had no control. As filth said, he needed to use his other hand to pick it back up

Its not really interpretation? Its just the rule? I guess you can be annoyed at the rule. But it was applied correctly

    Now blow full time

"He can't disppear" oh fuck of Flannagan.

For MTB or anyone else who has it on mute:

In regards to Taulagi being penalised for pushing DWZ away from the ball, Flanngan gave the "What's he supposed to do, he can't disappear!" classic line and threw in some "good use of the body" and "was it really even a push?"

Definitely rabbiting there. At least he won't cop the penalty thanks to Chad.
