Ponga if he's priced at his 36 average and is DPP will be pretty irresistible. Hastings at a 45 average is less obvious value. Miller at 44 is a pass unless he gets a pretty steep discount. Brailey at 48 is probably a wait and see.

I hadn't been aware that Hastings was playing for the knights this season. With Ponga next to him, he should get almost all of the kicking.

At halfback, before getting injured he scored 50+ every game with scores of 50, 63, 76, 51, 55. Gets really involved with a huge number of ball touches. Should be great value, with that 59 average, including goal kicking.

Surprised they are keeping Brooks and letting Hastings go.

Hastings to Knights isn't official yet, but is expected to be announced in the near future

Tigers releasing good players to other clubs does not surprise. The biggest surprise is that we apparently get Klemmer in return
Klemmer / Korosiau / Twal  / Bateman / Papalii / Ofahengaue is a good pack. Brooks might even be able to perform to his best behind that.

Would want to make sure Hastings's heavy involvement is something the Knights will replicate, and wasn't specific to how the Tigers used him

Miller still contacted to the Sharks for '23 at this point as well.

On the Tigers, whoever the half is, it will be nice for them to be playing behind a decent pack and be getting the ball from a quality hooker...

Wests do have a good pack now, with Klemmer officially signing. If they'd have kept Hastings instead of Brooks they could have finished as high as ninth this year.

    Is Miller actually any good?

I mean from the one game we saw he could be, but he could also be an older, less experienced Matt Dufty.

I think Ponga would be well served by a move to the halves, but atm the Knights look like they have better 5/8 options (Clune, Gamble) than FB ones (Miller, maybe)

Luke Brooks must look unbelievable at training for the Tigers to persist with him for this long and now prioritise him over Madden and Hastings. A match to mark in your calendars is round 16, where Brooks will likely play his 200th game without a finals appearance.

While fact checking that I got an ad on nrl.com for a 2023 Tigers membership with Hastings on the banner lol

    Is Bateman signed to Tigers?

Hastings will be the guy that everyone starts with because of a few games last season and then averages 36.

When do round 1 tickets go on sale typically? My brother is a new to NRL fan and is choosing the Dolphins as he lives up there, and R1 they play us so should be a great game to go see.

I don't rate him. Probably the 4th best fullback left at the Sharks (Kennedy, Hynes, Dykes) and there is a chance he was 5th last year (Metcalf)

So talk around on his next contract Doueihi wants 900k a season. He’s a fine player but I do not think he is worth more than 650-700k.

Talk is the Tigers are still pushing hard to try get Moses for 2024 as well.

On another note has anyone been following US Survivor Season 43? I’m enjoying it, it’s quite a decent season lots of players playing hard but in a variety of ways.

Given what they are paying halves at the moment, it seems a reasonable number.

If they give him the reigns and let him own the team he will prove he is worth that.

Sorry I don’t think he’s worth it at this stage he needs an injury free season too first for mine.

This is super interesting - Fifa using in-ball tracking tech at the world cup. Article goes into quite a bit of detail on how it works. Offsides are detected by AI which is very cool - https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-world-cups-new-high-tech-ball-will-change-soccer-forever/

This is the sort of tech NRL has been supporting and trialling. Nothing has made it into a game yet

My concern, as with anything the NRL do under PVL, underfunded, lacking in testing, before hastily being thrown into production.
