how does the rest of the team look like with that many guns though.

I just brought in Hynes myself by dropping Grant down to Robson.

now have Robson, Carrigan, Cleary, Hynes as my 700k+ guys

My bench has Burton and Garner and then is a bit weak from there. My edges are both <500k and my centres are bargain basement <300k. My WFBs other than Teddy are cheap too <350k.

Ideally id have 100k more to run a slightly deeper bench instead of 2 Dolphins (Stone & VTW) and 4 <250k players. Overall, i feel like the only thing im lacking is bench depth. Otherwise, im pretty happy with all my mid-pricers and position by position i feel it is strong enough - apart from centres, but screw the centres!

I basically do this. I dont really give it much more thought altho rarely spend on ctrs and wfbs.

Then spend 10 weeks undoing all the mental gymnastics that got me to that round 1 squad.

Although perhaps creating a squad early allows for confirmation bias to set in re players youve picked or not picked, based around ideas and tidbits of information that turn out to be meaningless. I guess sometimes rhat works and sometimes it doesnt

Yet to start making a squad, going to try avoid that until after TLT and just create a squad from zero in one go, no tinkering

Boyd is overrated. Gilbert will not get many opportunities close to the line in a poor team. Uto minutes are still not guaranteed. Doorey is a risky selection and way too weak for starting on the edge. Halves are overpriced, why dont you try and find some value, you fool!

Thompson is going to give us a game or 2 and will be out. Alamoti is 19, i dont care how good or big he is, he is 19. 19 19 19!!! Suaalii is a hack who should move to rugby union. HTF is allergic to contact. TMM wasnt good enough to hold a spot at the Broncos - the Broncos!!

Douiehi has a shit name. Cheese has a shit nickname - selecting him will result in immense hunger each time you look at your team. Katoa will be benched because the coach is stubborn and a bit stupid.

Garner couldnt even nail a starting spot at the tiges. Perham is rocks or diamonds, usually rocks. Blore is young but faces an uphill battle to come even close to the field.

Stone is just a fancy name for a rock. Rocks are bad, as previously established. Sloan is full back at a team that will average up between 6 and 6.2 points per game this season - just watch

127k bank isnt enough with a team like yours. Where has the 10 million gone? You should have about 8.5 mil left over with a team like that.

    A roast you say? Sure!

    ---------------------------------------

The following is a transcript from the Lone Scout helpdesk

C: "Hey boss, we've a customer on the phone. Says he wants a cookie-cutter team, but shit"

B: "Right, have you set him up with HTF?"

C: "Course, first thing I did! But he also wants to pick some locks so he feels like he knows the game"

B: "Yeah they all want that. Well just pick a few bottom-four plodders that are probably overpriced. Bonus points for rep, hey?"

C: "Yep, yep, gone Tino and Gilbert"

B: "Great start. Ok, how about some folks who aren't base price and might not even start?"

C: "What, like Doorey Katoa and Blore? I mean, I could, but that's a bit obviously shit right?"

B: "Nah, he'll talk himself into it after reading some shitty forum thread for a bit. Might even thank you for picking 'boom players'. Go for it."

C: "I can see why you're the boss! Ok, that's about it I think. No, wait. How do I answer when he asks what happens in R5 when he has no centres playing? And no hookers?"

B: "Payment in advance mate. Someone else's problem after that."

I’m 100% taking that approach this year

Obviously I have views like Cleary is a good captain choice and about certain mid rangers and cows, but I’m not bothering to form a squad until after TLT

Will likely start with every ok option under 350k, then go by position
