There wont be 7+ guys under 250k worth having. There never is. Half of them will be flops. Good luck picking the right ones!

mattnz:  "With the byes, it is going to be more efficient trading gun to gun, than moving 2 mid rangers".

Milchcow:  "This year we have more trades, and only 2 extra weeks to use them in. So we have a few options for our extra trades
    a) Trade for a higher team value by bringing in more cash cows for profit
    b) Trade for more points by trading players out and in again for byes/short term injuries when in previous seasons you would have just held them
    c) Trade as normal, but actually have some trades left over for the end of the year rather than limping home
    "

I was contemplating another perspective.  Only need 1 guns (C) or maybe two (VC) at start of year as the extra trades this year allows me to get all the guns in eventually.  Stacking up on all the dirty mids, in theory, should make the start team fully filled with value for money players and therefore higher points - at least for first few weeks (and in theory higher cash generation).  Essentially some of the extra trades are being used to build from a low gun starting team.  Probably falls apart by continually needing to find cash to upgrade??

PS: Nice to be back for the year. Thanks to those who created content over the break for lurkers like me.

Well its good practice top have 2 guns anyway. But this year you definitely need a good VC, especially if your initial captain is Cleary who doesn't play round 3.
Similarly, your 18th man is going to be a lot more important this year than previously, as they'll be called on much more frequently

Its all well and good to stack your team with mids and make some money, but if those mids score less than everyone else is getting, you might give up too much of a headstart in points, and all your money may be useless.
If you do pick the highest scoring, best value team from the start then you'll go very well. But that is easier said than done.

Some people say that drugs can help you write more creatively but the verdict is out on this. Much like other traps.

As long as it’s still fun and you’re not aligning too much self worth to the result it’s all good

FWIW I do the Aldi version of what Booze and Milch have been talking about

Pick some guns, look for value, make a list, wait for TLT, slot in the cows you like and fill the rest in from your list, hope for the best.

Going with players with later byes, and moving them when others have dropped a lot in value. If the ones I choose are the early droppers I can wait em out. E.g., Moses, Robson, Taumololo, Tatola, Hopgood, Ilias are in my team.

That's the most strategy I can muster. Punting on Turbo and Rapana at WFB.

I don’t like AKP, Luke, Sloan, Stone and Moale. If you pick 7 guys at 250k and 2-3 of them flop you can be in strife whilst needing to trade them out whilst having other fires to put out in your team on top of that. And more often than not teams that pick 7-8 cheapies at 250k flop and fall behind from what I’ve seen.

If you pick 2-3 guys that flop at 400k or 600k you’re also in strife.

The point is that it’s about the player not the price. There’s no golden rule saying 4-5 cheap players work every year. Sometimes 2-3 might pan out, other years it could be 8. I wouldn’t be reaching but come TLT if there’s a bunch of guys I think can make money fast that are cheap I’ll be getting them and hoping most hit. If there’s not, I’ll do something else.

At the moment I think there’s potentially more good cheap players for R1 than since 2019.

Stone is likely to get good minutes at LOCK even if Gilbert starts. Gilbert will shift to MID relatively early in the game. Stone is coming of a pretty severe injury and it makes sense to manage him a bit in his return. Stone is perhaps one of the most undervalued and reliable cheapies there is

Am i missing something? Kaufusi and KBrom would be (near enough to) 80 min edge forwards ?
