This also applys to figuring out what to cook the wife for dinner. Don’t ask what she wants, let her tell you what you want is wrong and what would be better.

Could also work the other way, they still go left, but Garner doesn't get the ball much like Kikau would have, with more ball to center and wing.rhinoceroo wrote:
Have heard same, not sure if it's assumption or based on anything solid.
Don't know if it'll make too much difference if Penrith are more balanced on which sides they go without Kikau.
If McLean is the guy, I will take him, if not Turuva looks like an underpriced guy who could average low 40s

Happy New Year to you too!
Building a squad builder that uses a linear optimizer to generate the optimal squad given projections for all players! (between kids and life!)
Don't think it will be ready, but hopefully I can figure it out before Thursday.

112/5 ?
Gee, I'd hope for a better start than that on Thursday.
Ghost points to 151/5. Updates to come, could be ok.

The bloke is a gun, in a gun team, and isn’t morally compromising cheering him on.
If he is in the field he is in my team

And if McLean is named….. but Crichton is FB and Turuva is CTR?

Panthers are going to suffer without fast, clever ruck ball from Koro. Kenny fine, but doesn't give them the extra half a metre Koro did.
Panthers backs, halves and edges are all going a little backwards until this all settles in (see loss to a bunch of poms).
I'm taking Cleary because I'm a gutless sheep, but won't touch Garner&co. McLean fine, but hard no elsewhere. Yeo in particular will come back 150k at least.

If you look at meaney’s stats a little closer you’ll see some high tackle numbers.
I think this was when he was named at fullback but swapped positions with Munster in the defensive line.
If anything maybe overpriced
This is true but in the games where his tackles were below 10 he still averaged 43 with one try. That includes a game where he only played 60mins. His tackles were replaced by run metres.

Do you think the Panthers will regress that much that Garner will perform worse than he did at the Tigers?

God I miss Fensom and the days of Fantasy being about picking the best tacklebots in the game!
Would also love to see a Lock/Prop goal kicker again in the mould of the legend CP13

If you were the Panthers, and struggling a little, would you give him lots of ball?

Now that Hynes is most likely out this week I am thinking of selecting Bird at CTR as a potential placeholder. If Bird does get selected at LOCK in R2 he can stay and I can bring in Hynes after his R6 bye when his value has dropped. If not, I can just bring in Hynes R2 Bird is at 0.8% and that is not the reason I am picking him - but if he is playing LOCK he is also an enormous POD that most people will struggle to get in
On another note... bye players get locked out at the end of the round right?
This approach could be good insurance for a late round hoodwink by a coach

Garner made about 10 tackles a game more than Kikau did in 2RF starts last year in similar minutes. They're different players but a good chunk of that is the panthers dominance up the middle compared to the tigers. You'd need him to make ground in attacking stats.
Don't get me wrong I do think Garner presents good value but it's not always better team = better fantasy scores. He was definitely plodding in the WCC game.

What will you be optimising for? Points, total cash, quick cash, etc?

I think he'll go alright but will probably take Wilton instead (albeit at a significantly higher price) to hedge the bye with Cleary (The logic being minimising the number of top 17 players missing for early bye rounds)
I had either Cleary & Wilton or Hynes & Garner penciled in as combinations. This may be false logic given the number of 2RF options potentially available and it's possible I will end up with both of them given they have a similar value proposition.
