You must not have suffered through Ponga last season
Hmmm - now you have me remembering things that scare me. I certainly did not and just have fond origin memories.
Let me put my blinkers on and ignore this new unsuited information. I guess he will downgrade if he goes back to last year hopefully with limited loss….

Big Brain plan for me now is to run Loiero, Katao and EButcher with $200k in the bank
Whichever one displaese me most can become Bird in a week or 2.
$200k is not enough to upgrade Talau to a CTR that I'd like right now so he gets to stick around.
if Klese Haas start on Sunday, I'll likely trade Talau to Haas (unless one of my CTRs is injured and I need him there fo rcover)
This is a similar play to me. I can't stand having Talau in my team for the sake of his duel status. Will likely change him to Preston or Klese. I have enough coin left over this week to possibly drop Turbo down to Walsh and AKP up to Bird or Staggs. This would give me a a centre 3 of (Bird/Staggs, with Alomoti and I.Thompson as my WFB/C.
I would love to know this week if we are going to see Bird start the season at 2nd row, Lock or half.
Any Dragons fans out there got an inside running on this?

Agreed - not the same upside but is 80k cheaper. Doesn’t have to hit Hynes level to be valueable. With some kicking and tackling he may be a more reliable WFB scorer. Doesn’t need to rise to the same prolific heights but if HLF removes his floor while keeping his 100+ ceiling that’s invaluable at a position like WFB
Edit : also DPP may help Cleary/DCE byes
There's very few five-eighths that don't kick much and still score really well, the two that really come to mind are D Brown and Hughes.
Then you have good players like Luai in a very good team who still only average high 30s and is actually the same price as Ponga but none of us would ever consider (although Ponga is available at WFB of course so I realise that's a big factor)
So the question is can Ponga be more towards Brown/Hughes scoring than Luai. And I have no idea to be honest...

Also can someone advise me on how Grant play 80min. Is it all at hooker or does he move to lock as well?

I'm starting Ponga with a view he carves up a few times with his early draw and become a Raider or Dragon before his bye. Wish he still kicked goals.

We won't 100% know until Round 4. If he has run out of trades, then yes!

Depends which Hastings we get
Dominant player, not many other kickers, ball hogs in team
Newcastle have a good draw, unlimited upside
Cons new team, bad team
His injury last year really messed up his scoring
I have him also

He looks good value so he’s a must for me
Upside with kick metres, goals & the odd tackle break

Re: NRL Fantasy 2023 Part 7 - Game day!!!!!
Time to do some baby duties so not sure I’ll have time to update before the first game and this is where I’m at. A little bit of tinkering today has been therapeutic
Hodgson
Tino, Carrigan, Welch
Butcher, Katoa
Cleary, Hastings
HSS, Alamoti
Ponga, Miller, Warbrick
Cheese, Boyd, Hopgood, Trindall
Uto, Loiero, Doorey, Talau
I’m sure I’ve missed some guys like Garner, Sutton but can’t have them all to start.
Good luck everyone, let’s get going.
