Some of his points last year, which made him the default captain, were literally junk points - He'd be on 50 with 5 mins to go, all of a sudden, try assist/couple of TB and a conversion and he's on 70

I'm sure this happened numerous times

The thing this forum has taught me the most is to not make decisions on small data sets or single games.

He scored a 44 in his first game back last year then it was business as usual.

I will never, ever be 100% convinced someone is the right move.

But the problem here is that I did trust my gut. My gut lied to me and said I'd regret not getting Thompson. Maybe he'll be like Garner and I'll regret trading him out.

The thing that would make Cleary a sell is if the ankle injury is a little bit serious.

He has the week off to recover so hopefully all good.

Maybe you wont regret getting him in. Maybe this is his final game before he goes on a run of 2+ tries per game 50+ scores? I mean, they did just play the back-to-back premiers at home, who were extremely fired up.

If it helps, though I haven't seen the captaincy numbers, but presumably between Cleary and Murray you're just in the same boat as thousands of others haha.

Across the 4 leagues I'm in, there's maybe 4 Grant captainers, everyone else is Cleary or Murray.

Actually in L3 there's one Haas captainer to the 15 Clearys.

Brought Hammer in instead of Thompson. Now seriously considering just leaving the nuffy centre pairing of Alamoti and HSS for now and banking some coin for someone like Kolo or in a few weeks, Cleary.

Only Murray in my team tonight

In the days before PVL-ball, captaining halves was a bit of a Hail Mary move, wasn't it? The top options were goalkicking forwards (CS9, CP13) but after that regular forwards (Cook, Haas, OG Fifita). Maybe we're getting back there again.

Cleary was #1 the season before with a 72 average.

If you nerf his stats to today, he was mid-60s that season.
