I think it's all the "Murray narrative" stuff that was going on in the podcasts pre-season. If you were running without Cleary because of byes, Cook was always the safest play not Murray. Guy is just robot durable. Can't remember him going off the field for an injury or HIA in the last five years let alone having any non-Origin based time off.

Cleary was #1 the season before with a 72 average.

If you nerf his stats to today, he was mid-60s that season.

Cook and Haas also averaged mid-60s that season, accounting for TB and OL changes.

The longer you are at the top, the harder it is to stay there.

Panthers off the back of two premierships, every team will put up their best each week against them.

Its not overly surprising if cleary comes back to around 55-60 ish early on given no api/kikau. Probably still average 65+ by seasons end when panthers run through a bunch of bottom 8 teams in the later rounds #junkpointking

The 1b Captain option is still another half in Hynes. PVL ball was part of it when he had his crazy high season, but even without that he's still the ultimate mould breaker because he does absolutely everything. Luai doesn't kick so he smashes the kick metres, Cleary regularly racks up 20 tackles a game at a good rate, his team is a juggernaut so there's stacks of goals that's all base and then you add in the fact he's actually really good and racks up attacking stats too, then the forced drop outs, he's the ultimate stat stuffer.

And then Hynes came along similarly with the does absolutely everything

but my word klemmer, twal, and ofa love a hit up, not to mention isiah and which ever other edge they play, Uto really gonna struggle to get the ball, so he better be effective when he gets it,

i have him but he is on the block

    Thanks for your perspective.

I'll have Uto on the block at some point if the scoring doesn't come.

Shaq and Chee Kam scoring well again. Anyone have them both?

Surprised to see Clearly score 35 (reading here he had an ankle issue). Him and Kaloamatangi tonight, 134/2(c).

Logged on to see Cleary on 70. Took quite a while to register his score had already been doubled.

JD is an absolute king. No empty words in that press conference, that's the stand that everybody in the game should take on that absolutely pathetic, low life act.

I snagged Shaq when he was named on TLT, people in the know who watch Souths NSW Cup games and whatnot always give him praise - crazy good footwork and loves an offload, so I figured he had good fantasy game and was more likely to play big mins than Moale. MCK was in my team but I thought he'd only be getting that 60-minute Host-type bench role and that scared me off. Interested to see if he keeps his spot over Host who I believe returns next week.

That's v. true and I said pre season Cook was the one i was worried about not having in my team.

In saying that, Muz historically has quieter fantasy games against panthers than his overall average. So I'm not too concerned re: Muz. Although with that little stat I didn't captain him.

    Anyone worried on Cleary?

As for Thompson it was a bad match up I think he will hold his spot. Two of those knock ons also were not knock ons. He will be up and down but I still think makes solid money. I don’t think Milne would go any better if we brought him up.

I’m really proud of my boys mate we had a lot against us tonight with half our pack out, didn’t play all that great made 13 errors yet only conceded 16 and with a try that wasn’t a try the one on half time. All things considered a 16-10 loss at Penrith and with Atkins officiating I’m almost taking it as a win. Hopefully next week we can hold the ball and show what we can do we usually play well against Easts. We will get Tatola back too and maybe Sele.

Chee Kam and Jed were exposed tonight a bit, Host will come back and start when he’s back.

Also just like to say how proud I am of Shaq what a story multiple times tried to commit suicide but he turned himself around and he lost 50-55kg and what a transformation he’s doing the jersey proud. My mates would wind me up saying he won’t last more than 10mins well haven’t I been up them he’s played 50mins two weeks in a row and been good was our best forward tonight. Even with troops coming back he deserves to hold a bench spot for me and could keep a 30mins role.

Souths were good, not a lot of teams would keep Penrith to 4 the way they started that game.

Thanks for the min by min match report fanatics! Won the semi final but unfortunately have to play an ‘enthusiastic’ team of Argentinians in the big show next week.

Only had Chin in that but unfortunately put the c on him. Garner & Thompson eh? It’s a cruel game I told you the only ITT around was the ‘Infamous Tommy Talau’ 😏
