Looking at Hammer's career stats at FB I don't think his base + power stats (36 point) were that far above the ordinary. On average he would make 3 TBs a game (he got 3 on the weekend), make 6.6 tackles and miss 1.9 (6 and 2 respectively last weekend).

The main thing that was higher last weekend compared to his career at FB is run metres and kicks defused, averaging 2.5 kicks defused and 124.6 metres per game (he got 5 kicks defused and 192m on the weekend).

I also went back and had a look at the runs and run metres for every game Hammer has played 70+ mins at fullback (14 games not including last weekend) and he averaged 12 runs for 123m across that. If he can be more involved like he was last weekend, then his floor is actually pretty solid. Let's say he averages around 160m per game (he would have got about that without his try), then that's a theoretical base+power average of 27, which for a centre currently priced at 27-28 is pretty decent.

Obviously there is risk to him but I don't think his floor is as low as it has been in the past, and at his low price (and with his CTR dual), I think he'll do a fine job as your 2nd centre next to a gun like Bird.

Yeah I reckon Uto won't be moving much in price unless he jags a try. I don't feel like wearing the 30s waiting for it to happen.

I might punt BSmith too. Would give me two guys I want and a decent bank to get on Lemuelu or closer to Bird if either look like smashing it.

Out of the top 100 teams overall last year:
-44 of them were outside the top 5000 after round 1.
-17 were outside the top 10000.
-The team that finished 96th, was ranked 41,452 after round 1.
-The team that finished 2nd, was ranked 5,610 after round 1.

Conversely:

Only 17 teams that were inside the top 100 in round 1, finished inside the top 1000 at the end of the season.
29 of the teams in the top 100 in round 1, finished outside the top 10000 at the end of the season.


Lastly:
273 teams ranked outside the top 10,000 in round 1 were able to finish inside the top 1000 at seasons end.
