Weiland wrote:Pretty shocked the amount of people selling Cleary tbh. His score this past weekend was injury affected. Unless the injury was semi-serious, I expect him to be back to 60+ after this weekend.
60+ aint what it used to be. Hopgood, Haas, Carrigan, Mahoney, Cook, Grant, Harris, DCE all showing they are capable of it so far.

Also I need a gun mid want Tohu but need two trades to do it only guys I can trade out are Boyd or E. Butcher. I feel Boyd is a dud do I risk trading him out but then if Douiehi is a late out I’d be down to 16 this week?
Cartwright is Cartwright so unless you can sit him on your bench and have a look, what's the point worrying about it?
Do you really think Boyd is a dud or has your thinking been swayed by forum discussion? I don't think he is going anywhere points or cash wise but he will do a job for you until his bye. Again if you can have a look then do.
The Doueihi thing smells like bullshit to me until i see a reputable source post something (and no that's not some joker on a forum or discord)
Unless the alternative is to play with 1 man down I wouldn't pull your team appart to get Tohu....have a look at the alternatives or make a plan to get him when someone else has bye's and origin coming up.

found it posted elsewhere-
"The commission reached the landmark decision on Tuesday night and informed NRL clubs of the new policy on Wednesday morning, having finalised months of research into whether to strengthen their concussion protocols by mandating a stand-down period for players who suffer serious head knocks.
Players who suffer a category one concussion will be automatically stood down a minimum of 11 days meaning they could miss two matches.
Category one symptoms include loss of consciousness, failing to protect oneself when falling and unsteadiness on feet. Players who show these signs are instantly ruled out of matches.
A category two means a player has failed the concussion test in the dressing room and is unable to return to the field.
The rule comes into place from the start of round three where the Sea Eagles take on Parramatta."

I think selling Cleary is fine if and only if it's to someone like Cook, and even then it's not the best trade to make unless you desperately need a gun hooker.
That said I think I'll hold him this week since I have enough depth to cover him this week and can bank a trade.
I think there's also an argument that selling him for "not a Cook" can be worthwhile if it allows you to address other issues in your team or give you flexibility going forward.
Last week I thought MattNZ was crazy for getting rid of him but the more I think about it the better that move is, and not just because of the benefit of hindsight with his low score this week.
The whole point of taking Cleary was for a solid set and forget captaincy option, I don't think anyone started with him expecting value. That hypothesis is now shaken and reallocating resources towards
generating team value makes more sense, if anything more so this week than last. I think more trades this year *should* lead to higher overall team values come year end despite the byes, normalised for variance in the magic number.
If Cleary and Tohu (my current trade in for him) both average 60 next three weeks that's almost 150K made right there. Obviously there is potential to be punished by 80+s from Cleary or a regression in Tohu's scoring but that's always a risk with any trade and is offset by Tohu having a better bye schedule. Having said that Tohu is yet to play 80 in a game with the mid rotation not affected by HIAs and he's getting older but historically he plays 80 more often than not at lock anyway. I also get to free up a bunch of cash for addressing the looming need to move Trindall on. I've also dodged a lot of the injuries so far and don't have many fires to put out (come at me fantasy gods)

Good for Rugby League
Not great for fantasy, but that is of course secondary

Admittedly it does give clarity, if someone cops a Cat One you know he isn't playing the following week, rather than having to wait day by day to see if the protocols are passed.

Hopefully this means another 24 extra trades.

Good point, might bring about a ceasefire on sideways bye avoiding trades though.

Doui was the one cramping at the end of the game wasn't he? Jumped up to scuffle with Gamble.
Checked the tape and was at the 77th min, lower right leg issue and has strapping on his left thigh. Stayed on, took the goal and seemed to be moving alright.

I thought Doui was out because his Dad Gamble grounded him for the week
