The decision is to trade in someone who averages 40 in the halves, or someone who averages 25.
Also, the guy who averages 40 is cheaper

Katoa could get more of a role (and points) as he becomes more comfortable in first grade, but at initial glance its an easy decision.

Yep fair enough, but time is a small concern for Nikorima, if he's out again in 3 weeks he wont make the cash needed. Katoa at least has a longer runway.

But I do realise Milford may not even come back in and may be out for longer (I see casulaty ward says TBC). For some reason 40 seems optimistic to me for Nikorima despite it being his average over a large sample size.

Definitely has greater potential though, I'll follow the community here

I haven't posted my team yet this year so thought I'd throw it up here.

Trade this week is Doorey to KNik. Eels are getting troops back and hard to see Doorey having much of a role for fantasy going forward especially with his ppm.
Tossed up HSS out instead but figured he is a handy looper short term and Doorey frees up more cash.

Was going to trade Butcher but plan is now to see what happens with him, cheese, Carty etc this week and trade up to a gun next week.

    Team currently:

    Cook
    Haas Tapine Ford
    Hosking EKatoa
    Cleary SJ
    Lemuelu Alamoti
    Turbo Miller Sloan

    EButcher Preston Hopgood HSS
    Nikorima Carty IKatoa Warbrick

    29 trades left 103k ITB.

The last two where matto played 55 off the bench look good.

At least for this week Greig is highly unlikely to play big mins. When Paulos back its a problem.

Hopgood might get the 60 min Matto role from the bench. I'm comfortable holding this week with Greig starting and no Paulo. Lane might not play 80 straight up and Carty's minutes will probably drop going forward.

I'm thinking Carty, Loiero and Hopgood could go next week for Hynes, BSmith and a sub 300k cashout, but no dramas waiting to see how things play out. Another Eels player goes down and both could be holds for another week.

Frustratingly I am 4k short of doing Doorey to KNiki to enable Welch to Cleary.

Would have been nice to be able to hold the other guys an extra week to see how things shake out.

Yeah I’m holding this week but firmly on notice for next week, with guys like McInnes who could put up similar scores for 150k less

I would also think Matterson would play the Matterson role not Hopgood Laughing

Yeah I think this week you get a free look. Always the chance of an injury/hia changing things for next week.

Having Uto gives me some flexibility for the last game so I’m in no rush to trade anyone out, I understand it may be different for others

Despite playing well each week, Walsh hasn't scored more than 54 this season. His best this season would be a disappointment as a captain.

Probably depends on what Arthur is thinking re Carty, and someone has to start at 13..

I could see Carty dropping back to 40 or 50 mins with both Matto/Hopgood decent mins

Whatever happens this week probably isn't a good indicator of what happens the week after anyway.

Eels are just getting that slightly worrying Tigers "we have no idea what we're doing" vibe. Fortunately for them, they're playing the actual Tigers this week so have a chance to steady things somewhat.

I concur. No major issues for Hopgood this week. Next week they might have a more stacked pack.

I have traded him because I want Cleary, who is a clear upgrade. Maybe I'll get Hopgood back over origin, but that is weeks away and plenty of time for things to happen before then.

    R19:

    R24:

    FW2:

    FW3:

Murchie's minutes have decreased each week, from 35 down to 27 last week, likely less again this week.
Makatoa is more likely to have a 0 or 13 minute game of the first 2 weeks than bigger minutes, with Lane, Hopgood and Matterson available.

Can see the rotation being something like:

    Murchie 20
    Makatoa 10
    Lane 70
    Carty 80
    Matterson 60 (includes 10 EDG)
    RCG 60
Hopgood 65 (comes on for Greig after 15 minutes and plays out the match)
Greig 25 (2 stints of 15 and 10 minutes - looks buggered after 5 minutes and has only played more than 16 minutes once this season).

With Paulo missing, I expect they will want as much time through the middle from RCG, Matterson and Hopgood as possible.

12 months ago it was a similar situation, and the Tigers got their first win of the season. Pulled it out of nowhere

Don't think history will repeat, but as a Tigers fan, all I have is hope

This is exactly my reasoning for trading Hopgood out.
Might be a bit premature but atleast I have no regrets about bringing in Cleary.

They are the only players that Arthur has shown any confidence in. With Paulo out, they get the bulk of the minutes.

Note that last week it was:
    Hopgood 62
Matterson 75 (31 EDG, 44 MID - doesn't need to play many EDG with Lane back, so the split will be different)
    RCG 68

Arthur takes the approach of playing the guys he trusts as many minutes as they can handle, with those he doesn't trust getting what is left.

so matterson and rcg played more minutes that hopgood. this week, hopgood is benched, while the other two are still starting, but hopgood is going to play more minutes than both of them? p unlikely
