    dean pay it is

    rumour mill

    Bmoz to leave
    lichaa to then stay
    Dymock to leave

    i feel for dymock but he was dessies main assistant for years, i think we need a completely fresh change and while he may deserve a HC gig here, i just think it may have ended in more of the same

    Pay's comments around mbye make me think fullback may be the plan, pay's talked about his broken field running more then anything, i really do think its worth a try, hoppa to right centre, no brenko lee gifting away 3 tries a game

    Maybe it gives cleeland a go in the halves aswell

    Bmz to stay
    Abbey to go
    Clay preist coming in
    Lichaa to stay

    i get the feeling we may see mbye at fullback based on pay's coment around him, plus it gives us a reason to leave brenko in ressies

    My 17

    1. Mbye
    2 bmoz
    3 jmoz
    4 hoppa
    5 montoya
    6. Cleeland/nu brown/frawley
    7. Foran
    8. Tolman
    9. Lichaa
    10. Woods
    11. Jackson
    12. Elliot/RFM
    13. Klemmer

    14. Elliot/RFM
    15. Fualolo
    16. Cleeland/nu brown/frawley
    17. Tualau/priest/eastwood

    i'd prefer cleeland in the 6, nu brown on the bench and tualau getting a 20 minute high impact stint

    frawley wouyld still play 6-8+ games that foz will likely end up missing

    i still couldn't have us in the 8, i've really come around on the woods signing but it really makes me hate the tolman re-signing

    woods and tolman in the same team is just so meh, the forward pack is ok but the balance in the pack is wrong, its all about the grind that won't be enough, need more impact guys i think which is why i think tualau has to be there off the bench

    Is that the only all white starting pack in the league (if elliot starts?)

    Pay is a great decision, he will have them in the top 8 for sure. He'd of got Raidersto Top 8 if he was head coach there.

    Mbye > fullback looking like a sure thing

    certainly not naive enough to thing its guranteed to be a success but its a change worth trying. i genuinely do think he'll suit the role fairly well

    Re suli, obviously has some worth ethic issues but at 19, he has time to fix that, apperantly the ankle injury will hold him out till round 7 but given the injury and worth ethic issues to date, i don't tihnk he makes our backline with everyone fit anyway but it was important to get someone on the books as i can see either of the morris boys being here next year.

    based on comments made by pay, team is shaping up something like this

    1. Mbye
    2 bmoz
    3 jmoz
    4 hoppa
    5 montoya
    6. Cleeland/nu brown/frawley (probs frawley)
    7. Foran
    8. Klemmer
    9. Lichaa
    10. Woods
    11. Jackson
    12. RFM/Martin
    13. Elliot

    14. martin/RFM
    15. Fualolo
    16. Cleeland/nu brown/frawley (probs brown)
    17. Tolman

    Like klemmer going back to prop, he did a good job at lock but when he plays for rep teams, there is a much more quality in the shorter type of stints he plays at prop, i think 45-50 minutes of quality will be better then 60+ minutes of solid footy

    elliot has a bit of finucane in him, hopefully playing solid time at lock can bring that out of him

    Finucane is probably still the move that hurts the most, we've made several bad ones but i could never at any point in time defend that, always hated it, god i wish we still had him

    regarding the upcoming season, i think we'll be competitive, quite a few of the others teams fans who also missed the finals think we'll be worse them but we'll probably still have a 10-11 win season, but i can't see us getting that extra 2-3 to get into the finals based on what we know, only guys like foran, lichaa and mbye being better then their most recent seasons can sway that

    i'm not really sure who i wanted to win yesterday, i think Dib had done alot of good for the club which was quickly forgotton but there is no doubt there have been failings all over the place over the last 3 years and he certainly played a lead role in all of that

    its a pretty fresh start for the club tho

    we go into the next season with a

    * new chairman
    * New board
    * New CEO
    * New Coach
    * new captain
    * New halves

    its been a complete top to bottom change up

    Did the Rooster's ask for their sombrero back ? The cap pressure at the dogs was well documented, they finally shed players and the NRL rubber stamps Woods & Foran's contracts. Then they sign Suli on $400K and people joke about the cap pressure, now there's rumours that Tolman's being pushed out to the Titans due to cap pressure.

    General question
    Is the cap only measured at a point in time ? eg. end of season. And that's why the NRL wont allow this player to sign but once you get under there's no question till the next audit ?

    Sounds like the Roosters strategy.

    Sign every star player off contract so they are over the salary cap.
    Win Premiership.
    Star signings mysteriously get arrested in a nightclub for possession in the week following the GF win.
    Sack offending players.
    Request a salary cap audit once they are below the cap again.

    to play devils advocate here

    * its also been widely reported that suli is on no where near 400k in the first year due to back ending his deal to get him in the cap
    * we got rid of brenko post woods and foran being rubber stamped and before suli being signed
    * the tolman rumours which are largely nobodies on social media/the lurker/throw away comments by the moles have
    A) been around a long time before the suli signing
    B) are a good chance of never coming to fruition
    * even if it does happen, tolman is signed for 4 years, we have 2 australian props locked up, its more likely its about having more cap space to spend elsewhere in 19'/20' etc

    For the record, while i don't buy into the cap stuff no worries mentions, i do think the above highlights 2 errors made by the club recently

    1) suli, here we are awaiting the huge backended contracts of jmoz and eastwood to expire to give us cash to spend for 2019 and we backend another deal ? retarded

    2) i like tolman, he is a good nrl player, signing him for 4 years at the same time as signing the bigger, better version with an offload was equally retarded.

    We are better off with klem and woods starting and playing 50-60 minutes up front, tolman is getting paid like a starting prop when we don't need one.

    As much as a think tolman is a solid player, i do hope we can find someone to take him atleast 2019 on wards, he jsut won't offer good value for money for us

    in other news, the 15 players who seem to be locked into spots for round 1 are all rested for the trial against a pretty strong penrith team

    all the players playing for those last 2 bench spots were included

    i'm not usually an advocate of going all in on a trial but tbh, we seem like the club that should be putting more emphasis on these trials to get the combinations some game time together

    happy not to be worrying about injuries but think we should have another hit out

    Panthers v Bulldogs at Belmore Oval (6.30pm AEDT)

    Panthers: 1. Dylan Edwards 2. Josh Mansour 3. Dean Whare 4. Tyrone Peachey 5. Christian Crichton 6. James Maloney 7. Nathan Cleary 8. James Tamou 9. Peter Wallace 10. Regan Campbell-Gillard 11. Isaah Yeo 12. Viliame Kikau 13. Trent Merrin Interchange: 14. Sione Katoa 15. Sam McKendry 16. Tim Browne 17. James Fisher-Harris 18. Jarome Luai 19. Moses Leota 20. Waqa Blake 21. Corey Harawera Naera

    Bulldogs: 1 Kerrod Holland 2 Josh Bergamin 3 Lachlan Lewis 4 John Olive 5 Tom Carr 6 Josh Cleeland 7 Jeremy Marshall-King 8 Francis Tualau 9 Fa’amanu Brown 10 Renouf To’omaga 11 Jayden Okunbor 12 Rhyse Martin 13 Greg Eastwood. Reserves: Ofahiki Ogden, Asipeli Fine, Lachlan Burr, Jack Nelson, Jarred Anderson, Bronson Garlick, Joel Luani, D’Rhys Miller.

    there were the teams, we won 24-10 (with penny scoring a late one)

    obviously our ressies were up for it but penny were very undisciplined error wise. results says nothing about us but even for a trial, penny would have rathered a better performance i'd imagine

    from a dogs point of view, both lewis and cleeland played well, i believe in them 2 and frawley mean we have 3 guys who are probably gonna be premier halves in ISP but its likely none of them even truely belong in first grade

    watching guys like tualau, to'omaga, martin, ogden etc play so well against a penrith pack full of big names was exciting, i hope 2 of these guys round out the bench. in saying that nu brown sharp at hooker, may offer somthing off the bench. lichaa will be better for playing 60 rather then 80 if he is truely gonna be running more often.

    pretty rough start to the comp getting 2 of the top 3 teams in storm and chooks, its gonna be hard to still be positive if they both put us through the cleaners like they're expected to but who knows, maybe we can snag one with it being so early in the season

    apart from scorers, nothing that i have seen

    we controlled possession massively for like 50-60 minutes following a strong start by penny, so i'm sure the positive individual & team stats would end up reflecting that, penny were pretty comical with their errors tbh, tyrone peachey in particular had a shocker

    Peachy is probably already thinking about his club next year. One nostril on the coast already, so to speak.

    Panthers seem to be gettting written off by everyone, but they still look like a contender on paper. Good forward pack. Good experience in the important positions. Just need to sort their shit and get on the same page out by the sounds of the weekend. Ditching Watene-Zeleniak helps and their two-dads quota is still being met elsewhere so hes obviously not needed.
