I like it. With byes every round there is always 1 or 2 players missing which leads to trades or playing players you wish you didn't. Get that depth asap to save trades I sayRabbits21 wrote:I am not gonna go for Hynes now. Gonna aim for better squad depth looking at

I know it's been discussed on here countless times over the years. Discussion of how much to take in the group think we have on here.
Had very little time to think/plan my trades last week. Saw matto ruled out and realised shit hopgood is in for bulk minutes, is dpp and plays round 13. With rcg and matto out now plus paulo (and maybe matto) out for Origin, Hopgood should be a gun pick-up.
Not meant to be a brag post at all - obviously quite a few on here in the top 50 which is awesome to see. But just wanted to note - sometimes keeping it simple and going with your instincts is the way to go!
Bringing in Haas, Null and jdb for Murray alamoti and Preston. Traded haas out just for one week and in again. Sounds whacky but I'd planned it this way - don't want to miss out on his upside even with origin 3 weeks away. Gotta hope it's worth it!
Irrespective of groupthink, you ultimately always have to go with your instincts.
In any given week, there might be 5 or 6 players that are popular options across the group - they tend to be of interest for good (upside) reasons.
It's always possible that there are outside-the-square alternatives, but they don't tend to stay hidden for long unless there's a good reason why they are not great alternatives.
The area where there is less consensus tends to be around trade-outs - these are often as important to get right as the trade-ins (which are far more alluring topics), and around overarching strategy - where there is very little groupthink at all. Everyone knows that you want to build team value to $14-15mil, and that you want to play as much of your best 17 as possible every week, but the strategy of how you go about it and squad management can be widely varying.
I think in terms of Matto being a late out, there really wasn't time to generate much groupthink around ramifications, had there been more time, I would have imagined there would be a fair bit of talk around Hopgood and whether that makes him a viable get & hold through to R13.

Historically he's about 10 points underpriced, if he is an 80-minute hooker.
But who knows what AG's plans are, how he will overuse Mbye, whether Sullivan spends time at 9 (think he may have before?)
Word coming out of the shire* is that if the Dragons lose to the Tigers this weekend, his position as coach will have become untenable
*Shire being me, but I have a suspicion that it could play out that way

Averages early 60's in the role, when playing 70+ it bumps to almost 70 average.
DEfinitely some value and will be a great DPP.

Sutton isn't playing though, and no one knows why or for how long.
Pretty weird for Gus not to disclose the injury considering he is open about literally everything else. Seems like a week by week thing rather than anything long term though.
Apparently Max King is still in a lot of doubt for this week too despite being named.

After origin I'd grab him. Higher base from tackles and probably still does a decent amount of kicking

But without the meme I would hold onto Ford unless you need a centre

Bloody good point. Last week I contemplated trading out Miller and Haas but did not. Reading the trade out discussion on Miller from this week (especially in Contrasting Hobby’s team tracker) - may have led me to a different outcome if I’d read it last week.
I think one reason less discussion on trade outs is not everyone has every player in their team. But almost 100% of us can contemplate trading in the new shiny player.
Players that I’ve contemplated trading this week are Ford, Miller, Carrigan, Hosking, Preston. One will probably go for Horsburgh.

Last week I was trying to work out whether Harrison Edwards would be worth grabbing, and Gus did tweet about Sutton, he said (at the time) he will hopefully only miss one week. I'm pretty sure he mentioned the injury but I can't remember what it was. IIRC it was something he'd been carrying for a few weeks.

What sort of numbers are we thinking is a good base for the first big bye. At the moment i have 8 players for that round.
Horse the only one that could be an origin selection. Do we think 10/11 might be a good number?

Any reason not to trade host to tatola? Need a 17th man and can loop so can wait a week but think I’m set on tatola.. screw you guys I’m doing it. Unless you think I really shouldn’t. And then I won’t.. or should I? What do you reckon?

Yeah he did say he had been carrying it for weeks but pretty sure he didn't say what it was.

I have 9 atm, but probably aiming for 11. 12 if Te Whare is a viable cash out for R13, otherwise will only have Miller in WFB

I'm waiting a week to compare Tatola and Luki, both similar price points and can serve the same purpose

Yeah 10 should be pretty manageable. I'm thinking 11 or 12 for me, short a CTR and/or WFB.

I will have 11 for round 13 this week, missing a CTR and a WFB, will see what happens the next few weeks, but likely end up with 12 or 13. I expect I have more heavily targeted the byes than most.

I've done no forward planning at all this year and just looked at my numbers yesterday for round 13. I have Null, Bird, Katoa, Ford and Miller! I still have ITT currently, so if he survives the next couple of weeks I'll keep him for his 13 points.
I have some work to do. Still leaning towards;
Murray - Horse
Uto - Brown
