i have a lot of samoan friends through league & many of them exhibit feminine traits even though on the league field they will smash you & destroy you. these boys are very funny on the drink & when drunk will tell you they love you all the time. i think it's a cultural thing because fa'afafine are very respected & are important members of the samoan community as they care for the elderly, young, etc so imo samoans don't have the same hang ups towards gay, trans people like other cultures do because they are exposed to it from an early age in a caring, respectful way.

I think all Polynesian cultures had no taboos about transgender, gay people until missionaries arrived.
