Playing like this, gonna be hard for Fred to drop him totally. I'd start him and Cleary and bench Luai.

Only NSW would have one of the two best halves in the comp, not pick them. classic

The ‘combinations’ bs needs to stop too
Thurston/Lockyer/Cronk turned out ok

He said I’d go away from the combo (luai and cleary) because then you have two halves who want the ball, two halves that can make something happen and it’s easier to attack on both sides, they don’t need to combine all the time, like Munster and eve
The other reason to select Hynes is so that there is another legit kicking option, cleary is the only option so always gets pressured
That said Freddy is a stubborn bugger

Honestly, I think we sold NSWRL a bridge with that one, they’ve been convinced for years into not taking their best players into Origin in order to fit in club connections because we kept talking about combinations, even though club combos have never really a thing we’ve done, the only one I can think of is 1. Slater 7. Cronk 9. Smith and they they weren’t picked because they played together (though it did help on the field), they were picked because they were the best 1,7 & 9.
