IMO I reckon it’s around 60/40 he keeps the spot, so there’s a solid chance he could be available R16 and would be an absolute must have as captain (even moreso than usual)

I think if you've waited this long, you'd have to get him in 16 if he's available.

Playing like this, gonna be hard for Fred to drop him totally. I'd start him and Cleary and bench Luai.

Greg Bird and Peter Wallace was my favourite combination as a Qlder

Wade graham said something about Hynes in the lead up to origin 1

He said I’d go away from the combo (luai and cleary) because then you have two halves who want the ball, two halves that can make something happen and it’s easier to attack on both sides, they don’t need to combine all the time, like Munster and dce

My opinion, The other reason to select Hynes is so that there is another legit kicking option, cleary is the only option so always gets pressured

That said Freddy is a stubborn bugger

Even Hynes at Fullback would be better than Ted and give that extra attacking threat

Part of being a rep player is forging combinations with players from other clubs

Honestly, I think we sold NSWRL a bridge with that one, they’ve been convinced for years into not taking their best players into Origin in order to fit in club connections because we kept talking about combinations, even though club combos have never really a thing we’ve done, the only one I can think of is 1. Slater 7. Cronk 9. Smith and they they weren’t picked because they played together (though it did help on the field), they were picked because they were the best 1,7 & 9.

Something wrong with the stats, Haas and Carrigan didnt update by 10pts combined during HT
