Wasn’t expecting Brown to be such a hot topic
My opinion is he’s pleaded guilty, shown contrition, copped a punishment, had the additional embarrassment of trial by public, missed 3 games, and will be forever taunted by away fans as a “sexual toucher”
There is no condoning what he did here. But he’s been punished under law, stand down policy has worked, he seems genuinely remorseful. Don’t think it warrants a further NRL sanction but happy to agree to disagree

Should have just said this at the start I’d have thoughtlukeayee wrote:
I'm not advocating for it. I have children of my own.
But young adults and teenagers will do stupid shit. I dont consider what happened to be as heinous as the media are making out.
He should be punished but ultimately forgiven.
I've said all I need to say.

Don’t think anyone is complaining about Browns punishment not being harsh enough, I think it’s just people downplaying, minimising or being an apologist for the behaviour, which is pretty shit

Pearce - Simulated sex act with a dog (fully clothed) - 8 week suspension and $50k fine
Brown - sexually assaulted a lady by grabbing her breasts without her consent - 3 weeks off and no fine.
Something not right if that is the only punishment.

Almost like the administration changes in the NRL over time

Also ignores that Brown has been punished under the NSW law as well

One was a chargeable offence, the other wasn't, far worse!

It’s impossible to set a punishment that most would be happy with let alone everyone. The fact he’s plead guilty and seems to realise the seriousness of his actions means he should receive leniency imo. On the other hand what’s worse calling a ref a cunt or groping a random stranger?
I definitely find it difficult to work out how these situations should be handled and still don’t think the no fault stand down policy is right.

Yeah but you’re saying Pearce got punished more by ignoring that Brown has been punished by the legal system
Also they are 12 years apart with entirely different policies around how the NRL manages off field incidents.

Hard to believe that it’s been 12 years? Did Pearce debut when he was 15.robelgordo wrote:

Society has fallen into this interesting trap where if something is "Criminal" you should be brandished as such with all the other criminals.
There seems to be no scope for the contiuum that is the severity of individual acts. As such, there will always be an element of subjectivity and this esacpes most.
Luckily our judicial system has not been compromised to the same degree.

Yeah I just looked it up and it wasn’t. I think Carney bubbler was about 12 years. Pearce was 2016. Got my timeline way off

Pinheads.
FYI, Lance Pinheads is a low minute bench prop who has no fantasy relevance.
I think you are referring to John Pinhead who is an 80 minute hooker with CTR eligibility.
It's important to get these things right
