Somehow I don't think we can trust someone that tries to tell us that Corey Jensen, Xavier Willison and Kobe Hetherington are rep quality

Reminds me of the cursed time in 2019 when the Dragons would have a spine of Widdop, Norman, Hunt and McInnes, then they would take McInnes off, move Hunt to hooker, Norman to halfback, Widdop to 5/8 and bring Dufty off the bench at fullback.

Basically the opposite of a settled spine

    Yeah it’s nowhere near that

It’s like Barba/Holmes or RTS/Mini, the wish version of. Or it’s smoke and Lomax is FB with Sloan wing.

i think willison has the potential but he needs more mins but that's hard when you have 2 big min forwards like haas & carrigan...if he wants rep footy he probably needs to go to another club with a bigger role.
imo hetherington won't make the next step he comes across as a plodder/journeyman
jensen i like he gets stuck in but i don't think he cam make the leap to rep footy

Disclaimer: I haven’t really looked closely at anything yet.

    Is Ponga an option?

Priced a fair bit under his FB avg last year. It’s not standard to go big at the back, but depending on cheap options, could just go Pong/Paps/Turbs and be done

Definitely an option. For me he's the best value gun at WFB. He's been in and out of my team multiple times.
With decent mid options with high upside available like Paps and Campbell; and cashies like Stewart/Weekes looking like at least one (or both) getting a starting spot, I think Ponga isn't necessarily needed and the cash could be better used elsewhere.

If Paps isn't ready to go round 1 or Campbell doesn't end up winning the fullback spot, I'll look at switching in Ponga.

would love ponga in my team but at 757k it may be a bit too much you're then having to play a very cheap wfb mug

Just keep in mind that sometimes he talks shit, like saying he would play Paulo for huge minutes at the start of the season, then didn't.

Yea I'm a little bit skeptical, more so of the Hooker situation than Hopgood.
Playing one hooker doesn't necessarily mean 80 mins automatically to the winner. Could we see 10 mins of Matto (or another forward) shifting to Hooker to give Lussick/Hands a breather?
In saying that, he did play Hodgson 80+ mins to start the season last year so definitely a situation worth following closely.

How did Parra's 80 minute hooker idea go last year?

I'd say that was more of an old man Hodgson issue, as opposed to a game plan/rotation issue..

There is a long history of the top priced fullback being available cheaper at some point of the season.

If I was going with a "gun" I'd go with Teddy who had the worst full season average of his career. Could be sign of a drop off or could just be a single season of bad form

Biggest issue is that Hodgson was cooked and the opposition figured it out very quickly. Got plenty of traffic and wasn't up to it

I think the best idea is to not pay for gun WFBs at the start of the season, especially not Teddy who has a history of starting slow.

Possibly more that spines often take a little while to really click.
Teddy has 65+ averages over his opening 4 games in two of the last four years. If you buy any premium fullback you have to be prepared to ride some low scores IF they happen.

It's why many would rather their premium players come from positions that have much higher floors (halfback, mid, edge, and not so long ago primarily hooker)

Given that, it's quite amazing they don't seem able to win anything
