Oh actually I had 9 cheapies last year, forgot I started with Terrell May as well. Pity that it took him a while to get the minutes he needed.

Hey man, i started with Preston too!! i just didnt talk about it non stop

I also started with great successes HSS, Talau, alamoti, TMM, Doorey (and trindall)

I did say few, not only.

I was on the Talau train. I knew it was a mistake when I did it, but I still did it

9 was great, it was injuries that cost me last season, that I couldn't recover from. Team composition worked well.

Not concrete but I like the RULE OF 7

7 guns or subguns (ie Papy will count as a gun despite price, Turbo did for me last year)
    7 midrangers with value
7 cheap cows (350k or under)

Depends what teams actually throw up but it’s a decent starting point

If Talau doesn't get taken out and gets the try instead of a several weeks injury, he would have been ok to start with at the price.

I was selective, deliberately missed Doorey, Thompson, AKP, had the rest and Trindall though, so that makes 8 of them last season.

And how did that work out? Picking more than one dud cow can really send a season spiraling early, particularly if you don't have cash in the bank to jump from the bad ones to the good ones, and/or you have inevitable injuries to deal with for more expensive assets.

I'm sure we had this conversation before last season. Eight cows is too many because it increases the odds that you'll have more fires to fight than you have trades.

Hallelujah cheer I thought he'd cop 2-3. Probably would've held if only 1.

1 would have been good, because it would have had people picking Weeks only for Strange to come in for R2. Who knows with Ricky though.

Now the question is whether to risk double cowing the centres with Burbo and Strange (if Strange is picked). Would be a real risk, but...

The fires were injuries, not the cheapies. Picked a good set of cows, the only failure was HSS. Talau was only a failure again due to injury.

Carty, Preston, Warbrick, Alamoti, Katoa, Trindall, May all went as well as you could expect from cows.

No need to keep being an ass. When you have so many injuries in your team that you can't trade them out fast enough and are playing with 16 in R5, the injuries are the problem. Great picks that just happened to get injured doesn't make them bad picks.

This recent discussion has reminded me I TRIPLED COWED thew centres last year
    Alamoti
    HSS
    Talau

Talau did go R2 for Preston. The others stayed a bit. I feel Burbo/Strange can't be worse? (might not be better)

I like to remind people that I did too. But like Matt, I also started with Terrell May, so let's not get too braggy.

Dude, injury saved Talau from being a failure by conventional means. He ended up playing 12 games in the season and averaged 19. If he'd have played them all a row from R1 you're not categorising that as a success.

    We all had injuries, btw.

I hope you do well with this year, but that's going to involve thinking about what you keep getting wrong and trying to fix those leaks, rather than looking at the heavens.
