Yes even if both Angus and Butcher are on the bench. Theory being that the starters have the spot on form and probably get at least 4-5 weeks before any non injury changes

Robbo often does switcheroos though Robbo roulette!

This is both true and not true

In any given game, certain players may get longer or shorter minutes, depending on game flow and workload.

But, barring injury, the team is fairly consistent over the course of several weeks. I think starting with at least one of them makes sense.

Also Roosters are one of the better bye teams, so loading up on them not necessarily a problem

Yeah that's why Arthars is suddenly back on the menu for me. Locks in early like Burbo, so can't use them as fallback options when TLT2 goes pear-shaped.

Might just go back to the Pap, Teddy, Rapana (replacing Sivo) back 3 and Bradley off to the side.

Does RTS unlock Montoya, or is Montoya already Montoya? scratch

I had Montoya in my team yesterday. Available at CTR, should score much better outside RTS and become a try scoring machine.

Tries off kicks aren't worth much, compared to going over in the corner with a LB and TB.

He strikes me as a guy that needs a try to hit 30. He had a full game at CTR last season, with a try and 16 points total.

I liked how Russell looked in the trial for Parramatta on the weekend. Feel he can crank 35s+.

I don't hate it. Would have to start him in the back 5 at that price, in Xerri or Rapana's place. Just not sure he'll average any more than Arthars though, who's 73k cheaper and easier to stash in the EMG.

I think I want both Piakura and Luki

Angus and Butcher on the bench would very likely mean less than 80 minutes for both of them. In Wong's case, probably the 50 minutes he was getting last season, when there wasn't an injury in the backs.

I would expect Watson, Smith and Radley cover HOK and lock minutes between them.

Being generous to Leniu, he gets his most minutes ever at 44, with May getting the balance of the minutes.

Collins would get around his 56 minute average from last season, while JWH is out this week.

Would leave Crichton and Butcher covering just 24 MID minutes, and probably get around 40-50 minutes each across EDG and covering the small MID minutes.

That would leave Wong at 50, maybe 50-60 minutes for Tupoinua.

R2 is the interesting one, can't see either of Watson or May getting dropped when JWH returns. Tupoinua or Wong just as likely to be leaving the team, as either Crichton or Butcher.

I'll be really surprised if Xerri holds a starting spot. Both Kiraz and Tracey to come into that backline. Wilson had great trials and may not be the one making room. He played every game from R19 last season.

Yeah Wilson was pretty good. Surely they've gotta put someone at FB instead of Taaffe. Tracey FB, CTR or 14. Kiraz WG or CTR. Crichton FB..

I could flick Xerri for a few options at this stage, so will see what news comes out next week.

Please don't talk about Schuster, I'm just pretending he doesn't exist.

Kiraz says his best position is fullback and that is where he wants to end up. Has been training CTR and wing though.

Totally agree that Taaffe should be first dropped.

There is certainly a world where May gets dropped for JWH due to being the least experienced middle despite being our best forward at the back end of the year. May is certainly not more undroppable than a fully fit Nat Butcher

They have too many EDGs and exactly 4 specialist props.

they aren't mutually exclusive though? butcher has probably played more games as a middle

I would say Butcher is the least likely of the 4 EDGs to be dropped.

Edges always playing 80 minutes isn't necessarily as true now as it was when I first started making the point.

But, barring injury, I don't think we are likely to see many scenarios where neither starting edge plays 80 minutes for a team

Almost like it's a tactic to have mobile middles. There will be stints this season where Cheese, Watson, Radley and Nat Butcher are the 4 middle players

I've been looking at Teddy as an alternative to Ponga but have some reservations.

Is anyone concerned that the narrower fields in Vegas will result in less space for the back 3 to work? Could see the likes of Teddy, Walsh, Turbo and Trell all underperform in Week 1 if the field is packed tight with forwards.

Could also see more tbs from crabbing across field
