Is anyone concerned that the narrower fields in Vegas will result in less space for the back 3 to work? Could see the likes of Teddy, Walsh, Turbo and Trell all underperform in Week 1 if the field is packed tight with forwards.

I can see Teddy and Walsh ball hogging to put on a show for the yanks, both games to go over total points... put the house on it

If you are getting Teddy/Trell/Walsh/Turbo its for the whole season. Don't worry about 1 game

Or if you do care, get someone else for round 1 and then spend a trade getting the gun in for round 2. I am sure you're better off not pre-planning the trade

Yeah what Milch said with regards to worrying about Round 1; shouldn’t be the determinant factor. Tommy and Latrell usually just barge over the centre/wingers anyway and Teddy should still have no trouble getting in behind the ruck off fast play the balls. Overlaps on the wings might be one thing mitigated sightly. Tighter defenders might also make it harder for backrowers to find lines to run.

Could do, but you're buying him for the whole season or at least until origin. I'm sure he will still have 20-odd runs with most coming one off the ruck, could find some tired forwards. Your only alternative gun is say a Dedwards.

For what its worth, I've had Ponga pencilled in the team the whole offseason, never thought about changing him once. But now I have Teddy instead, that 100k is pretty handy for what is mostly likely similar scores.

I've got a team with grant, haas, cleary & ponga but i think hopgood could come in for haas & turbo or teddy could come in for ponga if i need the cash

Same here. My feel now is that I can potentially get the same output from Teddy as I could Pongo. That $87k gives a lot of flexibility and potentially means an upgrade of either tatola or Lussick to Murray or Grant. Seems an easy call when those are the alternative options.

Back to Teddy, he looked real good in the trial match and finished the season strong in 2023. I'm hoping the poor form to start last season was more the result of the Rooster's issues, than his own (and hopefully the Roosters have sorted out said issues).

The issue is you won’t know if you need cash until the Vegas players are locked out

when they interviewed campbell & he said yeah i'll be back rd. 3 i always get suspicious because he's not going to say yeah i'm screwed probably rd. 5 at best...coaches, players are always going to be optimistic on an injury return date.

i've actually toyed with ponga to gutherson so that removes the urgency of going with teddy or turbo & with the eels good early draw gutho could be gold

This is both true and not true

In any given game, certain players may get longer or shorter minutes, depending on game flow and workload.

But, barring injury, the team is fairly consistent over the course of several weeks. I think starting with at least one of them makes sense.

Also Roosters are one of the better bye teams, so loading up on them not necessarily a problem
Robbo for mine has swapped teams quite a bit sometimes due to injury other times due to tactics or he takes it in building blocks where he swaps who starts and who is on the bench. I’ve found he tinkers with things more early in the year rather than the back end

Added some more stuff to https://footystatistics.com/team_analyser.php when you view a 2023 team..

Under the squad is a history of players owned through-out the year with profit/loss details + owned average (average while they were in the team) and how that compares to the players full season average.

I think the latter is often overlooked aspect of this game.

I liked how Russell looked in the trial for Parramatta on the weekend. Feel he can crank 35s+.
Who was right wing for Parra last year? How was their try scoring ratio. I think Russell needs tries to be relevant. If it’s like 0.4 tries a game it won’t be enough you’d want close to a try a game

Feel teams will kick his way instead of going for Sivo? I could be wrong on that. Seemed pretty active in the trial without busting a gut. Played some centre also.
