These are becoming so prolific these days that just about every Fantasy team is affected in some way, every week. I understand that luck/bad luck is part of the game, but should the Fantasy scoring be altered to somehow mitigate the HIA curse ? Could there be some sort of compensatory move introduced? Any ideas?

I think for me these days it certainly takes a lot of the energy in the strategic planning side of things that go into fantasy out of it, knowing all your work can come unstuck with a single HIA. On the other hand, all part of the game. Each game has elements of luck. Like any comp, things have to go your way regardless.
Although, I wouldn't be so adverse in a case like Piakura's say the player gets a percentage of their average if they get knocked out say in the first 5 or 10? A setup like that I think has merit.

maybe take his average or you can be like ucl fantasy where you can sub in players for players that have played this will only apply for any player ruled out of the game with a hia

It's interesting because bad luck with injuries is always part of it but HIAs are more prevalent than other injuries
Maybe something like if you go off with any injury and don't come back in the first 20mins of a game, there's an autosub (providing you have positional coverage). Could be 10 mins, or 15 mins instead of 20 if that's too generous.
There is the secnario there were someone goes off with 23 points after 16 mins and your replacement scores worse though.

Terrell May is alright but we are 25% into R1 and I'm sure there will be 2-3 other players we can kneejerk over this weekend.

Yes I agree. Perhaps you could get an AE if you have another player on your bench in the same position. HIA is a spefic status. If the HIA score is higher it remains.

I was impressed by Wong's workrate in the game, he was defending on both sides of the field.
I'm sure he was aware he was only going to have a 25mins stint to start the game and gave it everything.
Robbo should be pretty pleased with the way the Roosters started their campaign, the young guns bringing high energy, the "older guns" bringing the experience

I think something along the lines of, if your HIA'd player goes after 20 minutes, you AE one your other players but it gives you 75% of their PPM (since they only play a hypothetical 60 minutes)

I am not really in favour of giving people AEs for people who have taken the field and scored poorly. But if you do, the AE has to be an actual score, and not something that has been estimated.
