Fine is super talented. But it's strange. He was almost all but gone from the cows late last year, then cows flipped and kept him. Now he's on the bench. He probably can jag upwards of 30 minutes with the current pack.

St George Illawarra coach Shane Flanagan is hoping the arrival of his son Kyle at the Dragons will allow Ben Hunt to rediscover his damaging running game.

At times in recent seasons it has felt like Hunt has shouldered sole responsibility for the Dragons' fortunes and, as Flanagan pointed out after an opposed session against Manly on Friday, the Queenslander has often had to do that while holding the hand of an inexperienced five-eighth.

But with the arrival of Kyle Flanagan from Canterbury, Hunt can expect the chance to play with more freedom.

The 25-year-old Flanagan has had his detractors during his first-grade career, but there is little doubt his kicking and game awareness can help Hunt unleash his natural running game.

"Ben's enjoyed his time with Kyle because it's taken a lot of pressure off him," Flanagan senior said.

"Ben's played with young halves before and they've only played 20 games. Kyle's up around 80 (games) and his strength is his organisation.

"He's taken a lot of pressure off Ben because on the last tackle, big plays, the ball isn't always going to go to Ben.

"That's freed Ben up to run a little bit more and (he's) enjoying that."

why don't you just get galvin 230k, another is muhleisen 250k bench hok for dragons in the charity shield he came off the bench & made 42 tackles so he's a little tackling demon altho they do have marshke that just signed.

You have talked down off the ledge. Was pretty close to downgrading Hutch to Flanno on the back of the kicking chat.

i own both hutch (in the 17) & flanagan (emg i chose to play chan) & i was going to downgrade flanagan for some cash but after chan's performance i'm hoping flanagan puts up a respectable score so i have confidence he can replace chan in the 17 next week but i still might sell him for the cash to get terrell...i just don't know what to do lol.

Hutch will probably kick less than Flano, but is a busier half so will make a few more tackles and run meters

    Heh. Already got Galvin.

I might be out of action tonight, hopefully can look at final team lists and go from there.

    Thanks folks.

Staying in the Hutch camp. Does that make me an 'insider'?

Also listening to punkish band Wire's classic "Pink Flag' album from 1977...always a great listen and you can hear how many times they've been influential (sometimes a bit too closely) particularly in the grunge era.

The last time that Flanno was coached by Flanno, he averaged 43 fantasy points, included 2.6 goals per game (-5 points). His halves partner was noted kicker Townsend. Next to Chad he averaged 193 km, in his rookie season.

The next season, he was at the Roosters and started the season really well from a fantasy perspective, including a low of 40 points all season, and a stretch of 5 straight 60+ point games!!

    Lest we forget.

I am seeing rumours that Lomax could have 1 foot out the door, he is playing on the wing, and all his previous coaches have dropped him at some stage. Who knows, he is a really good goal kicker and could take that up at any time.

Over Origin he should take the reigns and be a high scoring player as the dominant half, with all the kick meters.

Priced at 25 and his dad probably gives him decent job security.

    Anyone else sold?

I think Lomax is still the kicker....Matt's doing that thing of anticipating something that hasn't happened yet
