How many points will parra lose

another day, another salary cap headline in the papers for parra, apparently paid mossop 85k to break the contract but only reported 35k to the nrl


The media seems to be bashing them at every chance and i'm sure that atleast half of what the media have gone on about are either already disclosed or clutching at straws but there is no doubt the eels have got a few questions to answer

i think the nrl wants to go a bit easy on them tbh, they want the eels to still be within reach of the 8 without condoning their actions, so i think 4 points is the most likely scenario



the nrl do need to sort this out, its round 6 and feels like its been in the paper every 2nd day since kick off, deal them their punishment and move on, the eels fans deserve to know the outcome

i did have 0 for an option but for some reason it was taken out lol

This is what I think will happen

I think the NRL will deduct whatever they think is the maximum number of points Parra can lose and still challenge for the finals.

I can't see how it can be an arbitrary number, imo it has to be the season if they choose to dock points. 
What happens if they get docked point and still sneak into the 8? Then you've a team found guilty of cheating to the extent that they have points taken off them but still have the chance to win a premiership.

i could be wrong but i don't think anything relates to 2016, so the punishment is more for punishing prior wrong doings rather then stopping a team currently over the cap compete for a comp (like the dogs and storm)


the warriors were docked 4 and almost made the 8, eels situation seems more comparable to that then the other two

Since when did the NRL do anything a reasonable person expects?

You'd think that if it was all previous administration issues, they'get a bit of leniency, but the reporting of each individual issue just keeps adding up, and adding up. Public perception may build up so much they don't see any way out except to wield the big stick.

The new boss might want to make a statement.

Who knows? Poor buggers look alright this year too. I can't imagine you're going to find great odds on Parra getting the spoon though. Anyone know if it's suspended?

It's been called least wins instead of the spoon for a few years now.

I meant for betting purposes, even though they'll get the spoon if they can't play for points you wouldn't win with a bookie as the Tigers and knights will be fighting it out for that honour.

Those two are doing their level best to convince everyone they're on the way up, but I wouldn't put a 3 dollar coin on them being higher than 14th. Don't rule out the "plucky" Titans, who beat all the older kids to the ladder at the diving pool. They got to the top, but smart money says they're still capable of heading to the bottom. Quickly.

Jokes aside, Parra have a decent roster. I'm not convinced they're any more in line for the big dance than Canberra are atm though. That's said with the use of the same crystal ball that puts the Broncos and Cowboys in the GF already, after 6 rounds, so... you know... ask my missus about going off early.

The longer it drags on the better position the NRL are in to grant Channel 9's wish that Parramatta remain in contention for the 8. If after Thursday nights game Parra are on 8 points an announcement will be made on Friday that they lose 6 points. If after Thursday's game they remain on 6 points an announcement will be made on Friday that they lose 4 points.

I think the NRL will want to dock enough that it is almost impossible for them to make the Finals without saying they are playing the rest of the season for no points.

Given our form, I'd take the docking of 12, I think we can still challenge for that 8th position. I think there are pretty clear form lines now amongst the top 6 sides, being Brisbane, Cowboys, Storm Sharks, Eels, Dogs. With the Panthers linking a lot of that form and being the unlucky losers.

I still haven't seen ALL the evidence, and though most of the issues are historical I'm at a point where I wouldn't go off my 'nana if the board was made to step down, just a s long as Fitzy and his ilk or the NRL don't get control of the Club.
