Hold on apparently as Murray plead guilty but going for a downgrade means it’s only still 2 weeks even if he fails

Like I said, salaried public servant, so just got paid my salary for four or five hours a day of listening to a true crime podcast. Kinda surreal watching fancy wigged barristers read out explicit messages

Mullet and flanno/hi-vis seemed effective for getting yourself booted from jury in my experience

Haha when i say i 'cbf'd' the first two times, i mean i did the thing where you have a letter from work that it would severly impact operations or whatever so it gets you out of doing it. And by that i mean i wrote the letter and got the boss to sign it. Was early 20s at that stage

I've got the letter a bunch of time for like Juror Group E or H and they inevitably text the day before saying you aren't required to show.

The one time I did go it was pretty much 12/25 get on a jury. Then 3 excused themselves because it was a sexual assault case. So 12/22. I then assumed there'd be some Q and A like in US legal dramas and instead it was literally the prosecutor and defence randomly picking people based on what they looked like. I did not get picked.

If I got a letter now I probably would get the old work letter. Kind of a big deal these days. Just like in the fantasy NRL world really...

I’ve had a few….but I’m the guy who writes the ‘x is way too important’ letters at my work so wrote a couple for myself

Some chatty punks amongst the jurors, some young unit sidling up for the lowdown from me. 70+ yr old guy was all over a 30'ish striking lass, he was on for some post court pash I reckon, numerous dubious scrambled looking young men who looked like they might be on the inside looking out next time. Came away feeling like coastal royalty

I've had about 3 Jury Duty requests in my time. Got work to get me out of it each time. Would definitely do it now if I got another call up.

They pretty much get your age, suburb where you live and occupation. Nothing like the legal shows on TV with jury science would lead you to believe.

I was on a manslaughter case in my early 20s. Kent claimed self defence. We sent him to the chair....for 6 years.
