Wait, Keary is out for Walker?!

If one is weighing up to get BHunt, Johnson or Mannering it's getting irrelevant that hunt plays round 12 because Johnson and mannering play round 15 and hunt doesn't. It's not as if I'm going to have 17 players play in any bye week nor am I going to trade out a keeper. They still each have two byes. My team is not going to be better off in the long term this year because the byes are so screwed this year. People are struggling to have 17-19 fit players in non bye rounds. Might be better just to try and get a top 17 as fast as possible and leave 10 trades for injuries at end. Am I right in thinking this???

This is my thinking on the matter as well. My bye strategy has basically become "F*** It". I will be lucky to get more than around 13 players on average for the 3 major bye rounds, unless I completely mess with the long-term quality of my team. At the moment, I'm holding a few players that I would otherwise get rid of, but not really letting the byes influence my gun purchases. Though overall I'm not much good at all this yet, so it might be best to ignore me.

Yes it's just people think because Round 12 is the so called round of death that having Hunt will help out because they have a lot more players in other bye rounds. I mean if it looks like you'll have close to 17 players in other bye rounds and you can get Hunt then that's a good idea but otherwise you're just making your score better in one round as opposed to another

Milch's team planner works a treat for bye planning. I've been monitoring my every trade by using this spreadsheet. My bye rounds look pretty good at the moment.
But you can't ignore guns like Fensom, Mannering and RTS (God bless his soul) at bargain prices.
I didn't bring in Lolohea because his byes aren't great, decided to opt for Aitken instead when he drops another 20-30k

I ignored the byes completely when setting up my initial team, and didn't look at them for the first month either, but since then every trade has been constricted by bye planning, particularly in trading out those with a R12 bye for those without. I have managed some good decisions and got a lot of luck, touch wood.
