Im in need of guidance. The last few weeks Ive been making what I thought was smart week to week trades, but I think Ive overdone it.

After my 3 trades today, I have:

    HOK: Hodgson, Parcell
    FRF: McGuire, Graham, Surgess, Ese'ese
2RF: Whitehead, Taupau, Bodene, Fensom, ET, Bhana
    HLF: Johnson, Hunt, Norman, Mbye
    CTR: Holland, CLaw, Avua'a, Kennar
WFB: Semi, Mitchell, Aitken, Feeney, NPR.

14 trades left 110k in bank.

Players Im looking at post byes are Smith (for Parcell), Croker (for Holland) Tedesco (for Claw) and Fifita (for McGuire).

Is it wise to sit to have that much cash sitting on the bench?

It's not a glitch, it's part of the rules.

They even give you a message when you try and sub your captain explaining what is happening. They could 100% get rid of it if they want to but choose to leave it in.

If it were part of the rules, they would detail how to do it in the FAQ.

They have attempted to fix it from last year, they obviously don't want it happening. None of us know how easy a glitch is to fix, but there is still an agreement by the player to not take advantage of such glitches.

I've only found out how to do it because of this forum, and to see so many jumping at the chance to cheat is pathetic in my book. Many players out there either still don't know or don't want to cheat, not exactly a level playing field.

Yes, it is a sneaky cheat, but I doubt there's many that honestly wouldn't take advantage of it if they fully knew about it.

Mate, it is common knowledge on any Fantasy forum or page; has been for years. I'm also sure for that 1 "negative" thing that you find on here or another page that there are 10 positive things that can be learnt. Anyone who is serious about this game is on a forum or FB page. Anyone who is not deadset doesn't have internet to play the game in the first place.

I was just checking the rules, and noticed that this year we get an extra trade for every bye week, not just the big ones.

    So 3 trades in rounds 12, 13, 15, 16, 18, 19.

if you've still got trades up your sleeve come rd 18-19 could make it a bit easier to get your final 17 together ASAP

But here is the relevant rule on captaincy choice

◦There is no longer the ability to take advantage of the “Captain Loophole”. All Captain selections must be made prior to the first game of the round and the Captain selection CANNOT be altered after the beginning of the round.
◦A Captain can be substituted out of a team during a round, but no other player can be made Captain. In that case, the Vice Captain will be awarded double points.

I admit its badly worded, because after telling you the "Captains Loophole" does not exist, the very next thing they do is tell you how to do a captaincy loophole.

I guess in their mind they mean the old style SC/DT loophole is gone, and nthey probably should rewrite the rules

But the fact remains that it clearly spells out that you can get double points from your VC by subbing your captain out. There is no way that doing so can be interpreted as 'cheating'

As for technical difficulty in removing it, it would take 5 minutes to implement.
Either prevent C and VC from being subbed out at all. Or prevent C or VC from being an AE if they end up out of your 17. Either is trivial from a coding perspective.

If you want to avoid using the loophole because you don't like it, go ahead, but you are only harming your own chances.

Personally, I don't like rolling lockout - I don't think its a desirable feature of the game to force people to be constantly online in order to succeed. But its a foolish step to go from disagreement with a feature to refusal to use it.

Well for what it's worth the team over at NRL.com are talking about the Captain's loophole. If they're telling people how to do it then I'm not against doing it

Toying around with trade ideas. With Tedesco apparently back in round 13 I was thinking of the following trades (last one left until Tedesco bottoms out).

    JDB - ET
    Mansour - DCE
    JFH - Arrow
    Gordon - Tedesco

    3 keepers for 1.

If you have the trades available, go for it.

I'd say there are very few people around who can afford to make 22 trades over the next 8 weeks. But if you have a crap load of trades saved up its not as hard as I originally thought to get decent teams out every week.
