2017 Draw

Ok, every game is on Fox, live.
Channel 9 has Thurs, 1 friday game and a sunday arvo game.
Only the second game on the friday night is on 9.

I am with Telstra Pre-paid, I get an NRL league pass for free with it. I just plug the computer into the TV and watch all the games that way, the ones I cant watch on channel 9 anyway. If telstra get rid of that, I'll heavily consider buying foxtel again just for the footy season, either that or I will just stream the games illegally and plug it into the tv similarly to how I watch it with the league pass.

Sharks/Broncs at Cronulla to open the season? Love me a suburban ground, and great the Premiers play first, but I hope they pack it out to make it a spectacle. Why not Cronulla v Dragons or something?

Dont they generally do a grand final rematch in round 1?

Also, thats 1 FTA game for the bronco's.
Im calling 16 FTA games for them.

That Friday game is actually 8pm local so those of you in QLD get a dodgy start to the year until daylight savings finishes.

Last year it was Round 3.

What a surprise, the Broncos travel to the Warriors during the origin period, but that not all - it's even without our origin players this time. Ridiculous.

We have a brutal draw this year. First 4 games are against the top 4 from 2016, and we play every other top 8 team + Roosters and Rabbits in the first 9 rounds. The only teams we play once are the Panthers, Tigers, Warriors, Dragons, Sea Eagles and Knights. Apart from the Panthers all were bottom 8 teams.

Oh, and for all the haters, 3 times we have a 7 day turnaround (less than most teams). And they've once again looked after the fans who have to travel (like me) by scheduling 3 Thursday and 6 Friday home games with no weekend games again.

That's pretty much a given though, Broncos vs [insert top 8 team here] has and will always attract eyeballs, so they jam as much of that into the draw as possible. When the Warriors, Sea Eagles and Dragons were perennial contenders we were getting them twice a year.

Facing the Warriors during the origin period however, has not and will never make the tiniest amount of sense, why you would keep matching up the continual most represented team against the continual least represented team defies belief. If they're going to that, the Knights sent as many players to Origin as the Warriors did last year, At least give us them so our reserve grade kiddies are playing against evenly-matched opponents.

I could be wrong as haven't googled it, but don't the Broncos almost always get both their byes in Origin weeks though? Hence only playing one game pretty much every season without their reps, instead of potentially 2 or 3?

they do, but there are 9 other teams in that boat aswell, none of whom will have to face a team full of international reps with their best 5 players taken away

There's a bit of give and a bit of take mate. The NRL might not be looking after them with your example, but then they are looking after them in other ways ie getting 2 byes prior to Origin most years. Nothing is ever going to suit everyone.

The Tigers have had some pretty rough draws in the last few years. Example was back in 2013 or thereabouts where we played 3 games in 13 days or something ridiculous like that. Also seem to cop most of the Top 8 teams twice the last 5 years. HOWEVER, as a positive, we have also had the "easier" bye round draws probably better than most other teams. eg we quite often get the Storm or your mob with their Origin stars out (not that it has helped us ).
