    Oh no!

"Billy will forge his own path this year and play when he's ready," Cronk said.

"He's training the house down at the moment but I think he will play it down in his head."

With every passing week Slater looks less and less like an option.

Another thing with Newcastle last year is that they had a poor run with injuries as well. It wasn't just getting flogged every week that changed their team around, there was someone injured nearly all the time.

Hard to run with something like Fifita/Slater instead of McGuire/Tedesco
Second option feels so much more balance

Wish Fifita would use some of his mussle power to run his brain. Way to unpredictable seems he's always a likely chance of being in judiciary. 2nd option for sure

2-3 (around the origin period) wins will come in round 16-17 and maybe 18. Could do 3 in a row and start looking okay. Then...... Mullen breaks his leg

So my current incarnation of my squad.

    HOK: C. Smith (C. King)
    FRF: A. Fifita, G. Burgess (J. Wallace, H. Ese'ese)
    2RF: P. Gallen, S. Burgess, S. Mata'utai (E. Pettybourne, S. Lane, $138k)
    HLF: B. Austin, A. Sezer (K. Elgey, B. Hampton)
    CTR: J. Idris, D. Whare (C. Scott, J. Olive)
    WFB: J. Tedesco, R. Tuivasa-Scheck, J. Hayne (B. Slater, A. Uate)

So this is the general idea for the team, it will surely change as people are ruled out and cheapies appear. I don't think J. Wallace will be in my team to start the season, but will change to whatever Bronco looks set to benefit from Parkers departure. As Milchcow has pointed out Slater looks more and more out of the picture so will change to another cheapie as well so I have some cash to float. (Currently $23 000 change.)

Minus stacking the raiders halves i like the look of this team mate, can you not dump slater and uate to rooks and use the cash to turn Austin into more of a half keeper?

Well if I was to drop Slater (Which is more and more likely) and Wallace became Jo Ofahengaue (The most expensive Bronco option I am looking at.) I could turn Austin to anyone not named Pearce or Cleary. The thing is, I don't feel the need to look at any super expensive halves. Lots of halves have question marks heading into the season, and then there are underpriced guys like Maloney, Mullen, Hodkinson, Sezer, Austin, Foran, and Mortimer.

That's fine mate but in that team you are relying on Austin AND Sezer producing more and that's risky, could be stuck with 2 mid rangers in a position where there are some big scorers

Sezer started losing fantasy points when he lost his GK duties and no longer kicks for 400+ KM a game like he did at the titans
Austin is too heavily reliant on attacking stats like Milf, but could fire back up again
Mortimer might not see the field if Seggy signs and Brailey developing
    Mullen - Injury prone
Hodgko - I like Hodgko and his scoring potential this year but as a secondary/tertiary half option
Maloney - Townsend has been known to shave a few points off halves partners the last few years
Foran - Never been a massive fantasy asset but did put some scores up at the Eels

You make a valid point that there is a certain risk with thise guys. At the same time a lot can be said about premium buys.

Johnson - Hot and Cold player in a Hot and Cold team with injury concerns.
Cleary/Pearce/DCE/Cronk - All new halve partners. (Though TMM doesnt seem to kick and Greens departure could improve things for Cronk.)
Thurston - Another year older as Morgan, Granville and Coote continue to help manage the playmaking.
    A. Reynolds - Injury concerns.
    C. Norman - Good byes, new HLF partner. Some bias as I wont select him because I just dont see him as a gun.

Difference is all the guys you mentioned are already in the GUN category or near enough, the others are mid rangers

All valid points mate and agree with most but I'll add my opinions on some

someone mentioned SJ fluctuates but always ends up around the same price, happens every year, you get what you pay for
Cleary is the dominant general field kicker, GK in a very decent attacking side with an already advanced attacking game which in theory should only get better as he gets more experienced. check this out his base stats for tackling, KM, GKs and RM is 43 Shocked
Norman - kicks the shit out of the ball, and will continue to do so if Gutho is his halves partner his base stat average is 40.5 before he was suspended his was outstanding and I expect a return to form from him as the dominant half

I don't mind the choice of Austin but I'm not as convinced as others that Sezer is underpriced. It's not simply that he lost the goal kicking duties or does less kicking, it's that he plays a completely different role in our team than he did at the Titans.

Sezer's role is still to organise our team and steer us around the park (although its shared with Hodgson a lot) but he deliver's the last pass far less often for us (which means less TA's, take a look how many TA's Wighton has as a result). With us its more about setting up our structure and directing the plays and then giving on early ball so the guys out wide can do their thang.
