Cheers
From memory a lot of the top teams got very good starts having Friend instead of Smith to start with, Ryan James, Jake Trobjevic, Whitehead, Graham, Mataora, Turner, Carter, Hymel Hunt, Pat Matautia, Tedesco, Cartwright, D Napa and also got on the Parcell/Garvey trains, Walker, Taylor etc
Looking back there was a lot of value last year, this year seems a lot harder in terms of getting guys whom will go from being priced around 40 to hitting 50s. Not too mention all the cash cows who made tons of cash at hooker and halves.

I guess I'd have to do Captain roulette if I have no Cam. Probably Surgess though. At the moment I'm planning like there is no Seggy. I'm also watching Parramatta and Tigers in regards to hooking value if there is any 60min+ cheapies for my bench HKR. If King is to start and play 80, then I'd roll with Smith & king.
Otherwise, there could be value in having Peats & McInnes depening on their teams' bench make up.
Proving a tricky position.
Don't see the upside with Peats given Roberts will be on the bench. Averaged 65 mins last year and just misses too many tackles for my liking.

Thanks. Would it be fair to say Friend and James and maybe Tedesco were the 3 big PODs last year? And does doing really well in the rankings usually come down to not missing out on those types of players?
Edit: oh yeah Leilua and I guess Rapana must have both be up there in the POD stakes too right?

I came 21st, but there were a couple of posters who mustn't have been in the SUG finished above me.
Key was having Joey L. and Whitehead from the beginning, getting Munster early and also starting with SJ when most had DCE. And getting the right cows. And luck with injuries.

Cheers - helpful info!
Do you have any thoughts on this year? Or is it a bit too early yet?

There's people here who've been playing a lot longer and know a lot more than I do. Although I do have 1 potential gun POD in all my drafts that I haven't seen anyone mention.

Kerrod Holland but depends on Dogs attack. Good POD in centre this year with regular game time, and kicks goals. $100k cheaper than Croker. Had good TB stats from memory.

I'm not one to brag but I finished in the top 10,000. Ladies of Australia one at a time, please.

Welcome mate. Yep, both FanHub. Pretty sure the AFL one has opened earlier by at least a few days either last year or the year before as well. It doesn't make any sense though as you've suggested.

Unless they get more players in which case it's understandable

They get around twice the players, 200k I think. Point though is the NRL actually starts 3 weeks early so yeah, more players to look after in the AFL, but 3 more weeks to get it ready and they would still have the same out weeks prior to the actual "the real" AFL comp starting.

7 or 8 were top 100 in 2016; another 30 or so were top 500.
The 2015 winner was a Fanatic (PhilGouldsChins). The DT Eliminator in 2015 was won by our resident bovine, Milchcow.
