Surprised no-one has posted this.
Reckon it affects round one selections of potential cashcows a bit. Might also show were some cheaper players sit in the pecking order.

"In an allied move, NRL clubs will be required to name a squad of 21 players on a Tuesday, with two players to be deleted on the eve of the final training session. A squad of 17 must then be announced in the standard one hour before kick-off."

When is the final training session?
Can someone suddenly be fit after that training session?

Good find mate. If that is what they are doing ten aren't the NRL just making things worse? 19 still named up till 1 hour from kick off.

Well they are making things worse for us and making things better for corruption with betting agencies.

So TLT is 21 players... and then there are 19 players potentially until the last hour before the game starts. Well that makes things awful.

Worse for us and no better really for corruption. It is not that often that a rogue gets called up that effects the outcome of a game, I think they are reaching in that article if they think it happens more than a few times a season (I understand even that is too often).

Surely that system is worse for betting.

The every day fan that the NRL is trying to protect will have no idea of what the team is but the big punters with inside info will know early what the 17 is going to be.

Yeah, that's fucked at your end. And they've taken away the latest starting game of the round on Monday night to boot.

Thursday and Friday night games would be around 4 AM your time? I haven't looked to be honest. Saturday and Sunday would be even worse.

will have to closely monitor any injuries in the days leading, any doubts I won't risk them, so my squad depth has to be decent

Agreed, will be always checking all teams an hour out of all games because it is their living. The whole phones in the change rooms makes sense, but not much else.

I'm sure a few of us would have no issues PMing you on FB to alert you of changes at 3 o'clock in the morning. Not sure how your Mrs would take it though.

Could be another week if Scout's post can be believed "No set date" yet even though it's normally open by the 26th.

Night games are fine, you just pick them up in the morning (8pm Sydney = 9am London, give or take an hour when the clocks change). It's the weekend mid-afternoon games that fuck you up.

Anyway, its possibly already been seen by some because of the Papa + Sezer + Baptiste shenanigans, but what I thought might be of relevance on here was to see the size of some of the possible raiders players this season (similar to training the house down in value I know I know!).

 Anyway, that's Turner in the Middle row, in between BJ and Ed Lee, looks to be possibly bigger across the chest than BJ going by that photo (Although he is standing in front of him so hard to say). 

The other one who may be of interest is Cotric, who is also in the middle row, 2nd on the right (or two right of Sia). Looks bloody huge so If Eddie isn't on his game (or NSW Select one or both of BJ & Croker) and he gets a shot as a lot are expecting, he could be a decent tackle busting cow at some stage in the season.

Where will Sticky fit Dave Taylor in, throws a spanner in the works ...................
