Joe Tapine looks absolutely fucking massive there! Big year for him I reckonArcher wrote:So, for the sake of conversation (I'd insert it as an image but its too big and I'm at work so not going to try and reupload one smaller) http://www.raiders.com.au/content/dam/raiders/raiders-images/2017/photo-day/DSC_4648.JPG/jcr:content/renditions/cq5dam.web.1280.1280.jpeg
Anyway, its possibly already been seen by some because of the Papa + Sezer + Baptiste shenanigans, but what I thought might be of relevance on here was to see the size of some of the possible raiders players this season (similar to training the house down in value I know I know!).
Anyway, that's Turner in the Middle row, in between BJ and Ed Lee, looks to be possibly bigger across the chest than BJ going by that photo (Although he is standing in front of him so hard to say).
The other one who may be of interest is Cotric, who is also in the middle row, 2nd on the right (or two right of Sia). Looks bloody huge so If Eddie isn't on his game (or NSW Select one or both of BJ & Croker) and he gets a shot as a lot are expecting, he could be a decent tackle busting cow at some stage in the season.

Also regarding the way Team Lists are now being given. I wonder if a team uses a player not initially listed in the 21 and then the subsequent 19 if there are any repercussions for that.

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread Part 3
Just on Tigers players I think their draw to start the year is very unfavourable. In the first four weeks they play the Rabbitohs, Panthers, Canberra and Storm.
These last three really enjoy spreading the ball from side to side, and I just don't see E Taylor, Moses and Tedesco scoring that well so we can afford to wait and see I reckon. It's not as if they will go off against these sides and you will miss the boat.
Last year against these same sides (and same home or away games) ET averaged 39 and Moses 36. Tedesco is sure to suffer as well.
Although there is a lot of perceived benefit across the whole season for ET and Moses there is no point starting with them and getting scores of 40 and making no cash. Its all about making quick cash and getting your gun 17 in as fast as you can.

I couldn't agree more mate. I don't like ET because when the inevitable Ballin injury occurs I can see ET playing part of the game at hooker where he sucks. I don't see Liddle playing 80 minutes. We hesitate in buying guys like L. Brown, T. Harris because we know if there's a backline injury these guys will be playing in the back line. Why is this any different with ET. The opening draw also puts me off Moses & Tedesco. Against tough opposition Moses has errors/missed tackles. Also I think the emergence of Moses without Farah could potentially affect Tedesco's output especially scoring tries.
It would be interesting to compare Tedesco's scoring stats when there was:
(a) Moses without Farah &
(b) Moses with Farah.

I do think Moses will improve his avg over the season, but with a tough start it might be wise to wait before bringing him into the team as you suggest

without injuries before round 1 (there are bound to be a few) it seems like there is going to be very little in the way of NPR cash cows to start the year.

There hasn't been a single trial match played. Even without injuries we'll see some selection bolters appear soon enough

Also the new 21 man TLT is going to be havoc for us fantasy players. Much worse than the current system
Especially for everyone looking to Tigers/Sharks/Parra for a cheap hooking option. Or any team for that matter as every team is going to include a utility on the bench.
Rd 1 TLT looking like it won't be very useful.

greetings all, back for another year! bring on the footy!
Hating the new TLT system, ridiculous, what's the point of even having it?

The new 21 man TLT protocol hasn't been approved by the ARLC yet, they have a meeting next Tuesday so we'll see what comes of it.

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread Part 3
Assuming the Tigers keep Simona, who misses out for Idris to come in?
Rankin probably the weak link, unless JT wants to keep him there o continue his crazy hooking rotation. Naiqama probably next to go (and wasn't he also being shopped around to ESL clubs in the off-season?)

I was of the opinion the backline would be Simona + Idris and Nofo + Rankin on the wings.

Rankin will miss out, apparently JT's car isn't as clean as he would like to warrant a first grade spot

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread Part 3
got me curious about the wests team now. they just posted a couple of vids from an opposed session this mornign on twitter - https://twitter.com/WestsTigers/status/824784014422614016
rankin in the 5. chee kam wearing 4, but cant see idris anywhere. most of the players seem to be wearing their correct # in the top squad but for some reason naiqama has the 9 on his back (though it seems he ran in a try at centre). only other interesting one to note is Sue is wearing #12. Cant see Simona there either.

I read that Idris and Nofu had been training exclusively on the right and one of Simona, Naiqama and Rankin will miss out on the left. Looks as though it could be simona with Naiqama possibly starting left centre

If Simona is at the club, they'd be fools to start Rankin and Naiqama ahead of him.
Especially starting Naiqama at centre, defensively he just has too many errors

Hard to imagine any other clubs having room to fit Simona into their cap this close to season start. Except perhaps the Broncos
