Okay this is where I'm comfortable. Oh and Maubbs haha
McInnes, Brailey
DSaifiti, JWH, FKaufusi, Papalii
JDB, McGuire, ET, KBrom, Siro, Yates
Norman, Guth, Elgey, Fogarty/Field
Aubbs, SMat, Idris, Kelly
Turbo, RTS, Hayne, Pythian, Cotric
What are your thoughts, JDB as captain in the absence of Smith/Fifita
Don't think there are enough viable cows to spend so much on those two.
Go at it lads

HLF: Johnson, Lamb, Elgey, Field

WFB: Holmes, RTS, Hayne, Phythian, Ponga
Gonna take a hit this week with Holmes, will play Phythian. Saves a trade for who I think will be an end-of-year must.
If someone can find 50k for me so I can upgrade a CTR to Sione Mat, that would be much appreciated.
Could you go McGuire to Taylor ?
Would become Smat/Taylor vs McGuire/Idris
Other than that looks a solid team but a lot will play Idris so his score is mitigated

If you can, move Mata'utia to CTR. Kahu playing wing now so he probably isnt worth it. Martin is also a gamble with Cleary establishing himself in the team now as the #1 half. Also be careful with Moga, he can be replaced at anytime, also has a history of injuries.

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy Rate My Team Thread
My latest reiteration..
Smith, Pritchard (R)
Fifita, D Safiti, JWH (R), FKafusi,
Burgess, Taupau, JWallace, SMat (R), Sironen (R), JStimpson
Norman, Lamb, Elgey, Hingano
Idris, Moga, Cotric, Kelly
Hayne, RTS, Phythian, Holmes, Suli
Have gone Pritchard (4% ownership) over Brailey (33%)..
Very weak in the CTRs and WFB to the extent I am running a Knights FB in my 17 this week. Banking on Holmes being back next week.
Taupau - Not really 100% on him - Thoughts? I've always had a soft spot for Kapow! and maybe am just subconsciously wanting him to do well... Maybe McGuire would be a better pick up.
Thoughts?
Any other glaring holes?

HOK: Just wondering why you are choosing Pritchard over Brailey, is it purely just the selection rate? Do you think they make even money?
FRF: Nothing wrong with any of the guys here.
2RF: Stimson isn't named in the 17 so I would look at other cashcows. I am also not sold on Wallace getting the minutes to improve his scores and believe he stagnates. McGuire does look to have more potential that Taupau. However he is also someone I think stays around where he is priced and Kapow! can have those tackle breaking runs up the middle that give his score a decent bump.
HLF: Nothing wrong here.
CTR: Moga could be a trap, but you have the trap covered.
WFB: Big risk betting on Holmes being alright for next week. If he is it could be a master stroke but there is the risk the injury niggle continues and the Sharks look good so he isn't rushed back. Then you end up in Round 4 with him still there and him being touch and go for Round 4 so you hold him just a little longer hoping he pays off. At the same time if you don't like the alternate option of French, then because Holmes is rested this week less people will have him and it could be a great pick up.
Nothing glaringly wrong.

HOK: Solid pairing to start with.
FRF: I am not sold on Yates scoring more than 20-25 on average throughout the year without injuries. But DPP status makes him a valuable NPR if he doesn't equate to anything.
2RF: Stimson is named in the 21 so likely wont see any game time unless there are more injuries. You could look at other cheapies so you don't start with a dead spot.
HLF: Cartwright is an interesting pick up to start with but should be decent.
CTR: No issues with 4 cheapies here.
WFB: Strong way to start the year.
Overall: Nothing wrong with any of the picks really, a nice solid and well rounded squad.

Thanks Random. The only reason I'm going Yates and Stimpson is funds. I only have 1K left in the kitty. I'm liking Papalli but who knows with the Warriors pack.

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy Rate My Team Thread
Hey guys. Just posting up a team for you to look at, with my own reasoning. If you can critique it, that would be good. I posted this to a forum member also for his personal input. Thanks in advance.
HOK: Can't go past Cam. What do you think? solid captain choice week in, week out. And Brailey, well I didn't really want him, however everyone will have him, so a failure for me, will be a failure for everyone. Thoughts?
FRF: This is the first team I've had Fifita. Been running with Bromwich, but thought if I could squeeze Fifita in it would be a positive. However a downgrade of Fifita to Bromwich would enable an upgrade of Moses to Norman (I'll get to them). Tamou, I think he's going to be a solid POD, and he travelled well in the 9's. F. Kaufusi, same as Brailey, everyone will probably have him. 4th position, just want someone that's playing. Thoughts?
2RF: I think Taylor is going to have a good year, as lon as he stays away from hooker and goes back to the days when he was at Penrith and was a tackling machine. Soliola, bit of a POD. Not really sure about this pick. But he stands out to be by far the best pick in the price range. As for Bromwich, Sione and Sironen, most people will be running a combo of these in some form. I think they'll be solid without being outstanding. Same as FRF, final position just made up by someone playing. Thought?
HLF: Moses... Horrible in defence, which is if major concern, but killer in attack. If the Tigers can put up some points this year, I think Moses will be involved heavily. But his defence is a worry. Now a downgrade of Fifita to Bromwich would free up the cash to go Moses to Norman. Is Moses worth the risk? As for Brock Lamb. His stats are good, even with Hodgko in the team, so I think he's worth the punt. TMM is the other option. I think he'll get more in attacking stats, but Cleary will do most of the kicking. Elegy, everyone has him. Hingano, just cash grabbing with him, thought about going Nu Brown, because he'll get the other half of Braileys points. But not sure. Thoughts?
CTR: Can't go past TT. I think he's a must. Going to have a killer year. Idris, Talakai and Kelly. Not expecting big things. I went a bit light down here. I was heavier, but thought the cash was better spent up front. Thoughts?
WFB: Teddy, nobody better. RTS And Hayne, all the serious players have these 2. Cotric and Feeney MK2 (The Python) most people will have them as well. So just there for the cash. Thoughts?
I think I just need an objective eye to look over it for me. You know when you keep looking at it, you can't stop changing it... so just need an it of justification of my choices.
Thanks for your time guys.

Well this is just my opinion but considering how you've managed to put in two elite gun backs like Tommy Turbo and Teddy you've managed to still field a good forward pack, really good team in my opinion.
I think my only complaint is maybe you could swap Tamou with JWH who has more cash making upside and get someone better in for Soliola but I don't know how much cash you have left.
Also you have the exact same HLF's line up as me! Hooray now I'm not the only with Moses as my most expensive HLF. He will part the Fantasy seas and lead us to the promised land.

Thanks JBG... Just did the swap to see what I could get. If I go Tamou to JWH, I can go Soliola to McGuire with $0 remaining. Good omen maybe?

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy Rate My Team Thread
My team can be found here.
Also should I run F. Winterstien instead of S. Talakai.
- Team Sheet:
- Reasoning:
HOK: So this is a risk, a massive risk. No actual gun, but in my mind a lot of people are going to be playing 1 of Brailey/Pritchard in their 17. So I am not trading off too much, compared to most teams with Smith hopefully as the rest of the team makes up for it.
FRF: Stacked up FRF position initially. A big reason for Bromwich being in the side is due to G. Burgess being named outside of the 17 this week. With Fifita hopefully offsetting the fact I don't have Smith.
2RF: This is where my team is money. Starting with 3 out and out guns with J. de Belin and P. Gallen having the potential to match scores that C. Smith would have. Then having 3 mid-tier guys who should all step up and either make decent coin or in the case of Sione become potential keepers.
HLF: Should role nicely. I don't think Gutherson is going to impact on Norman at all, as he will do most of the kicking and continue to be a weapon in attack and break through the line. Beyond Norman the rest are pretty much par for what everyone else has picked.
CTR: I am running 4 cheapies, one of them should be at least decent. Lawton I am not entirely sold on and think I should swap him to either Moga (Potential trap) or Suli (May not even see a game this year.) Either way I am hoping they can make some cash and hopefully 1 of them fire at the very least.
WFB: Not sold on French, but he is the best option as I don't want to sit on Holmes and he has great byes so you can't pass that up. Besides him, the rest of the WFB are stock standard.
Post Week One:
CTRs are bust - So if only 1 of my 4 CTR's are able to be starting in the 17, or if there turns out to be a better cashcow in the FRF/2RF than one of my CTR's. Sione makes the jump down to accommodate that role.
HOKs are bust - Well this is a problem I don't have an answer for. Essentially I will have to grit my teeth and take whoever is scoring the most out of the two options and they essentially are my 17th man. Personally I think my squad is strong enough to accommodate a weaker 17th man. (Though a HOK getting 80 minutes should be posting at least 35 points.) The only answer I would have would be downgrading one of my 2RF mid-tier guys if they go bust and use whoever makes the most money initially to make the jump to someone consistent.
FRF/2RF mid-tier duds - This is easy, they just become easy downgrade options for a cashcow option that shows up, and the cash can be floated elsewhere if there needs to be repairs. If two of them struggle then one downgraded and the other becomes a gun.
Also should I run F. Winterstien instead of S. Talakai.

You really need to upgrade Hingano/Field with that extra cash mate Hingano will be gone after 2 or lose money made if bench utility so wasting a trade in 2 rounds is not ideal
love the Tedesco pick and TTurbo cold be a gun CTR option, 2RF needs upgrading because Siro should be Siro in a few weeks and Winterstein has poor job security and is shit!
reserves a little weak and will need them all firing to post a decent total, maybe downgrade McGuire to JWH/Saifiti/Prior and spread the cash around

At a glance as mentioned it might be worth grabbing Elgey has he has more cashcow potential than the other two. I also would love to see another 2RF gun in the team maybe at the cost of Papalii. You have a really strong starting 13, but you need a strong starting 17 to hit your straps early in the year. So definitely upgrade some of your cheaper guys if you can to some more of the guns.
