Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 4
I think if they expect Slater to play soon they'll put Young at FB
But if they are worried about Slater's prospects they'll just stick with Munster at FB
That is just my guesswork - zero inside knowledge or anything

I know those two points sound contradictory to each other. But it all depends if Eastwood starts or not, which I'm fairly confident he will.
Meaning the starting pack will get big minutes.
IF Eastwood is on the bench, he will chew in to a lot of RFM's game time
Surely you want to keep your level on intensity the entire game as it is very hard to get back momentum once you lose it. Best thing for this would be start with 1 or 2 solid bench players that can come on and hold the level they are playing at. Dogs were at their best when Klemmer was coming off the bench IMO.

Scored atleast 50 in 18/23 games. Doesn't have a lot of upside but he is going to bring consistency

I think Mbye needs to take more responsibility and start steering the team around. Reynolds is too much of an instinct player, lacks the control.
Who could have forseen letting your halfback walk and playing 2 natural 5/8's would have a negative impact on attack

If Munster is named fullback it's going to be very hard to keep him out of my side

So is Matt Scott to the Knights for 2018 official? Heard they're getting Jack Bird too. Would this have any impact on this year? Cowboys try to get their younger props playing bigger minutes?

Hi all. First post for the season.
This is my first draft. Few spots will likely change come TLT.
Smith McInnes
Fifita Wallace AFB Hoare
ET Surgess Mata'utia Aloiai Simpkins Stimson
Cleary Lamb Elgey Hingano
Idris Whare Kelly Scott
Gutherson Hayne RTS Rennings Drew
May look at dropping Fifita to McGuire if named at 13 and upgrading elsewhere.

Cowboys have already lost Tamou and Hannant. They aren't going to voluntarily stop playing their best remaining prop

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 4
Here is the team i've spent a while putting together, with a number of daily changes. I also have a list of reasons why I f&ck'n hate it.
HOK:
Mcinnes, Balin
(Reason I hate this line up. No Smith. Balin, Need to raise serious cash across the park to ever contemplate upgrading to smith in the future)
FRF
GBurges, Graham, Vaughan, Hoare
(reason I hate it, Gburg i'm not sold on. Vaughan is in as an attempt at a POD, Hoare reminds me of my Ex. Graham is cool)
2rf:
JDB, Whitehead, Hess, LLeilua, Stimson, Arrow
(Reason I hate: JDB is $$$ maybe not worth it at this stage, the rest are all following the crowd really)
Halves:
Cartwright, Lamb, Elgy, Nona
(cartwright might be better in the 2rfs, with maybe a better option like Hunt??. following the sheep with Lamb (see what I did there) and Elgy. Nona is no certainty to get minutes)
Centres:
Bird, Idris, Whare, Jennings
(eh, happy enough with this. is Whare isn't playing rd 1 ill consider swapping out or holding)
WFB:
RTS,Hayne, TTurbo, Ponga, Phythian.
(i'm sick of writing about my hates).
Bottom line, there is still plenty of room for improvement, particularly around the middle of the field.
Would love some advice.

Dananz wrote:Hi All!
I’ve been soaking up the boards for the past few weeks and figured it was time to make an official reappearance.
Firstly, congrats to Shanbon for your new little one. Our own tiny human popped out about three weeks ago, so it’s nappies and boobs everywhere at the mo. I’ve been struggling for time, but fantasy football actually fits into the 20 minute mini breaks quite well.
I’ve been slowly chiseling away at my team and have come up with something that I actually quite like. It’s low on top-shelf guns, but I think I’ve managed to get a reasonable starting 17 together with a bit of upside and depth in most positions. I’m also loving all the bargain fallen guns in the backs, I feel like I’m rocking a dream team backline already, albeit one from three or four years ago. I’ve also entirely neglected the byes, will deal with those later. Hopefully I can sit on this lineup until TLT and save weeks of needless overthinking.
Lone Scout’s template was pretty helpful to start with as he already had about half of the players I wanted. I opted out of a classy backup hooker because I always like to start with two guns in the halves. I’ve gone for the same two as last year, although Thurston could make a late play for selection. Hopefully DCE makes it past round 1 this time! PeterMat + Elgey could be Cow + Lamb, but there isn’t too much on offer at the basement price for WFBs and I want to have some reasonable cover back there. I know the forwards are a bit light but I’m pretty happy with the spread. JTurbo will probably become Maguire if he gets named at lock for round 1.
Most importantly, this team passes my “aesthetic symmetry” test, which I’ve found essential for delivering personal fantasy fulfillment and satisfaction…
C Smith (C), C King
G Burgess, J Waerea-Hargreaves, (J Wallace), S Hoare
D Klemmer, J Trbojevic, E Taylor, (K Bromwich), (S Mata’utia), J Stimson
D Cherry-Evans (VC), B Hunt, (K Elgey), S Nona
K Hurrell, J Idris, B Kelly, C Scott
J Hayne, R Tuivasa-Sheck, B Slater, Peter Mata’utia, K Ponga
2k in the bank.
Thanks for continuing to be a great source of news and information. Looking forward to sharing the lows and the highs with you all again from Moscow!
Welcome back mate and congratulations.
With the bye planning, a distinct lack of it going on it seems so you aren't the only one. Potentially because it is seemingly harder to get a team together this year, or maybe most have decided to get the best start and sort Origin out later.
I've always been a massive bye trader (not necessarily bye planner though) so tend to use maximum trades over Origin. This always gives me huge inroads, but then I seem to fall away again after Round 20. Might mean I had a shit team to start with...

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 4
Broncos have named a basically full strength 19 man squad for the WCC. No bench hooker so looks like macca will play 80 unless Glenn relieves him (doubt it).
Arrow and George Fai the notable forwards included in the squad and it would appear Pearson will travel as cover. No korbin sims, or adam blair

Well he has big cojones (see his avatar for reference) so he could Captain Hayne.
If Hayne had a Fantasy team he would Captain himself. (Also anyone remember the year DCE played Fantasy and he selected himself in his own squad )
