Oh man I'm just so keen for Round 1 to come around already so I can make a team list that's final and I'm happy with. Today I changed my mind again on J Wallace, hearing he's a chance at starting at Lock which means DPP and in for at least a decent price rise I had to fit him in.

Am I crazy for considering Matt Prior over Gurgess as well? I mean I've eyed off Gurgess since last year and knowing what form he's capable of I had him locked in for ages but then I read the Fantasy value buys on NRL.com and my POD sense is tingling. Just the novelty of having this low ownership player do the job for me gets me all tingly inside.
I think if Gurgess gets named as starting prop round 1 he'll be very highly owned.

Matt Priors form last year coincided pretty well with Sam Tagatease being missing

Prior average with Taga - 31 (19 games)

Prior average without Taga - 49.7 (6 games) I am including here the 74 he scored in week 1 of the finals where he played extended minutes due to Wade Graham's injury. Even without that its still pretty high.

He did see a general rise in form in the back half of the year - but it was most pronounced the last 4 rounds (no Taga) Might just be coincidence and other factors were in play

Make of that what you will.

Which of these pairings would you go for:

    Fifita & Uate
    McGuire & Gutherson
    Gurgess & Tedesco

I've heard that a bit but is there something I'm not seeing about it? Don't know what his season average was but his last few games average was around the 35 mark which is good enough to begin the season for me.
He won't kick as much with Taylor partnering him but Elgey likes to take on the line and back up in support plus the Titans have a team full of attacking potential. A few try assists could help pump his scores up.

I picked him instead of James Graham to start last year. In fantasy land he's dead to me

Because he was talked up last to kick on to be a top tier gun, but ended up going backwards (slightly)

personally, if both are in starting 17, I would probably go McGuire & Guth, especially if McGuire moves into 2RF as everyone is hoping as those 2 will make money while providing decent scores, and if guth can keep going like he did last year. Possibly 2 keepers. More potential there than Gurgess with his injury worries.

Of course if you dont need both in team, and another captaincy option, its hard to pass up fifita

His average of 30 in 2015 was next to Sezer who is a noted kicker of the ball. I don't see Ash Taylor being more dominant than Sezer

ive been toying with Moeroa in my team the last few days and now an article confirms he is moving to the edge this year (i though he played edge at least 50%of the time on field last year anyway)

His season average was 29 - not 35. And those 5 points make a big difference to me. I would start a 35 average point player in my 17, but be reluctant to do so with a 30 average player.

He only scored above 40 twice and both included a try.

He may well get more kick metres playing alongside Taylor compared to Sezer.

The lack of other cheap half options means he'll probably end up in my squad, but as an NPR not in the 17. Its either that or take a punt on someone like Jai Field and hope they hit grade soon.

All options would be in the 17 - I like McGuire and Gutherson too - means I have an extra couple of DPP options (assuming McGuire plays lock). Fifita would be nice but I do have smith so not required for captain

I don't see much upside to him looking at his stats... maybe go he'll go up a few points, but nothing to write home about. But on the upside, he's got good bye coverage and he's an Eel and that matters! #parramatters

Elgey is pencilled into my team due to the uncertainty of other cheap half options, he's owned by 40% of teams at the moment. He will definitely make a bit of coin, but I don't expect him to score big... I'm keeping an eye on the Dragon's half race, I think Nona and Field are interesting options. I also have Hingano pencilled in for similar reasons.

Prior will get 45-50 mins if the Sharks have a bench hooker which they probably will so he's a good pick imo.
