Re: Ultimate Footy
I feel like I really underestimated the value of DPP in this comp. Selecting Walker and Trbojevic gives me the option to take a centre/half/wfb depending on which is best value

Re: Ultimate Footy
Rabbit picking up a second hooker rather early. Does he know that you don't have any reserves and you only need 1 starting hooker? Or is he doing a quicksand and drying up the market for trade bait later on?

The hooker market is too hard to corner tho - 16 starting hookers plus another half dozen DPP halves, with only 8 teams in the league, there's plenty to go around.

I disagree somewhat...
Storm - Smith
Roosters - Friend
Broncos - McCullough
Raiders - Hodgson
Dragons - McInnes
Titans - Peats
Warriors - Luke
Bulldogs - Lichaa
Souths - Farah
After that the quality drops off significantly. Who knows how Wallace/Rein will share minutes, same for Koroisau/Hastings. Granville could be an option but only had an average of 33.8 last year in Ultimate. Then you have Sharks, Knights, Wests and Eels. Who knows who will get the bulk share of minutes from those clubs and the possibility of sharing minutes is extremely high.

Draft heating up now!
Had a few pre ranked players and they were all gone except one when my pick came around again

Im not saying that all hookers are of the same quality - most of your list were picked up in the first 2 rounds for a reason - just that there are too many possible options to effectively corner a market for a position each team only needs 1 of. Its hard to believe that each team wont have a hooker that plays 60-65 minutes a game, giving 16 decent options - just gotta figure out who those 16 players are.

Can't corner in that sense but because the drop off is so large having a decent backup in case of injury is huge

It's more than just minutes. Some hookers could play 100 minutes a week and struggle to hit 40 points.
In an 8 team league there is probably enough to go around, but when you start getting 10 or more in a league then it becomes easier to deny others options.
In any case, I'd be surprised if whoever has 3 hookers in L1 gets a trade for them that's a better player than he could have just picked anyway.
