What are you going to do if Phyhtian fails?
Burns and Edwards probably won't be in first grade either - and there aren't a lot of other cheapies that look a real chance.
You prepared to downgrade a gun early if you're stuck with Feeney MkII in your backline?
Pretty much everyone is relying on some scrub to fill out their 17 - i'd rather have a base price nufty in my WFB where there's at least an outside chance that they'll run in a couple of tries and score ok, rather than have a cheap FRF/2RF as one of my reserves and hoping they get enough minutes to score a 25. Seen a number of teams running with Hoare or Ese Ese (or both) as scoring players.

Surely if it's a toss up between those two, you've got to go with Fifita.
Only thing that would change my mind is his issues with authority/suspensions.

Im thinking of starting with Hingano for his 2 games then holding, i dont believe Foran can play a season uninjured or without going back to old bad habits. May end up costing a trade down the track if i need to get Field in though

Same here.... he'll be my 17th player... it will give me at least 2 rounds to find a promising replacement without a terrible score

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 6
Extremely conservative estimates have been hitting 710 in round one and that's with Hoare and Ese'ese getting 20 points each, Idris getting 25.
I would be happy with 700 plus depending on how other teams score/rankings after the 1st round.

My current top 17 makes 670 on last year's averages (i allowed 25 for Idris and Elgey). I'd be hoping for a fair bit more than that.

Just because other people have rubbish teams doesn't mean you have to follow suit.
Its not having Phythian in your 17 that is itself the problem. Its that if Phythian is in your 17 that means you almost certainly have 2 rubbish players in your WFB NPRs. Its going to make it hard for you to make money, and provides no flexibility to handle injury/suspension
If Phythian gets dropped or produces rubbish scores its going to take you 2 trades to fix it. And whatever week you fix that up it means you won't be able to fix any other issues with your squad.

I almost just convinced myself to switch Peats to Luke but I didn't realise he's already priced at $460k.
Thought he had a mixed bag of a season last year and am surprised he averaged 48.
Can't see him averaging more than 50 although it looks like Kearney wants 80mins out of him which is always a plus.
Personally think he's about $30k overvalued.

On last year's averages I'm hitting 716. Obviously as with most people, I am expecting a lot of my players to improve their averages:
Sironen - 27
Ese'ese - 17
ET - 42
Lamb - 38
SiMat - 32
RTS - 33
Hayne - 25
etc etc

Switching between two teams which I'll only really change when TLT comes. Run the judgemental eye over it and tell me how I'm doing. One with a cheapie HOK and the other with two guns. I'm aware my HLF's lineup is enough to make people faint but I believe in Moses
Cheapie
HOK: Smith, Pritchard (R)
FRF: Gurgess, Fifita, Hoare, Ese'ese
2RF: De Belin, Mannering, K Bromwich, Stimson, Sironen (R), Wallace (R)
HLF: Moses, Elgey, Field, Lamb (R)
CTR: Idris, Sione, Scott, Kelly
WFB: Gutherson, RTS, Hayne, Rennings, Phythian
Gun HOK team
HOK: McInnes (R)
FRF: Prior in place of Ese'ese (R) (That POD factor)
2RF: Wallace in place of JDB, Frank Winterstein in place of Sironen, Sione (R)
CTR: Talakai

do you think he'll start? Seems that Sue has been training right edge, Lawrence would presumably have left edge sewn up. Aloiai biding his time from the bench until next season perhaps.
EDIT. having a look. his stats are sironen'esque.
The only game he started and played more than 60 mins he scored 62 in 75 with a try in RND 20
From RND 21 to 26 he started every match, avg'ing 27.2 from 51.6 mins
prior to that he played 7 games staring 2rf and only played more than 40 mins twice.
