rhinoceroo wrote:Arch, you worried about the Raiders being underdone at the start of the season? One trial match with 32 players means about 40 minutes of opposed football for each player heading into the season, if you can call a game against Newcastle opposed.
Not really too concerned, last year i think we had two trials and Ricky played pretty much no FGer's in the first trial. Our second trial was against the Knights and we went 30-0 up or something silly in the first half and Ricky then swapped out all the FGer's for the second half, so it isn't really any different this year.

We've also had a Mounties trial already, in which Dave Taylor played for fitness and so Ricky could get another look, and a couple of the depth lads played that too.

Just not overly happy with any of the cheapies at hooker. Tough decisions needed to be made.

Who are the cheap guys in the FR and 2RF that should be seriously considered?

I'm switching between him and Hingano atm. Not sure I'd start him over Lamb

Most people have Idris as a starter, and 2 cheapie NPR centres (Scott, Souths guy, maybe Kelly, Cotric might come into contention)

If you ditch Idris then you need another cheap centre (or to downgrade somewhere else to make funds)

Can't see how Idris isn't the best option

I will be running with at least one of

    Nu Brown, Field, Hingano, Fogerty

Depending on TLT and my guesstimates on how the first month or 2 will turn out.

Note - I don't expect Fogerty to start or anything, if I get him it would be for the flexibility of his DPP status

    Cowboys pair FR....

2RF ....tough position ...I'm looking at Leilua from the Dragons as a cheapie or Nat Butcher from the Roosters once he is fit

All he needs is one big run and break 3 tackles to make his score above his price. Surely not too much to ask

Due to the uncertain nature of those listed I have made sure my halves all have at least middling potential, minus Norman....Elgey, Sezer, Lamb all eating cap by not being bottom dollar

but I don't have to worry about them playing a round or 2 and then dropping out of contention altogether.

At least if one does rise like Walker did last year after Areys injury, I can drop one of the 3 i have down to them

I have Perret, Stimson, and Leilua in there at the moment, would prefer someone at basementish price though.

I like Perret, only problem is Manly have that much depth in the forwards both FR and 2RF

Stimson, I'd go Nicholls also from the Storm, seen a write up about him and Bellamy has a nack for turning around average footballers

Leilua will get his 20/25 minutes a game, kid has potential

Idris escaped a tribe of Vietnamese criminal kidnappists. I can't see him having too much trouble escaping a few equally unfit floppers come rounds 1-5.
