Hey Boozey. If you bring in Mansour and C.Mat this week, will that leave you with zero trades after you make those 2 other trades in Round 20?

    .

Yeah that would be the case.

    1) My original plan was to trade a couple cows out to turn Farah into Smith.
250k is what is needed conservatively to go from Farah to Smith (with 65k in bank to use as well) so this can now be done in one trade using Scott (given his BE and due price rise)
Farah could turn out to close the gap over the next 2 weeks further too, but can't rely on that.
Would bring in a Nuffie round 20, and while I could gain a few points this week trading RTS to say C Mata'utia (RTS has a guaranteed place in the Warrios going forward, Scott doesn't)

Leaves me with 2 trades for injuries and cover in every position (minus FRF) with Hayne/RTS as 18 and 19th man
This would mean I would be relying on some big injuries to popular players to climb the ladder and hoping others had run out of trades.

    ______________________________________________________________________________________________

    2) The gambler in me after playing mostly safe all year is to maximise the byes to bring in a couple of scorers given it is tough to climb outside of byes.
But no trades is very risky and was trying to think outside the box a bit.

See I could go RTS to Mansour but money becomes tight for Smith upgrade and relying on Scott/Farah scoring well (as would need every cent and then it's no guarantee they increase in price enough).
Really only gaining one game of points as would probably run CWalker/Edwards/Munster over him in final team
Munster to Mansour is completely doable but does he outscore him overall even with 2 less games? POD is appealing though.

    ____________________________________

Think I will stick to my guns and go the planned route, but just seeing if their were other options.
    Writing it down helps sometimes

Final team as of round 20

    Smith/Mcinnes
    Fifita/Taupau
    Surgess/Merrin/Chrichton/DeBelin/Gallen/Taumalolo
    DCE/Cleary
    Aubo/Fuimaono
    CWalker/Munster/Edwards

Injury cover =18th and 19th man
    Hayne covers CTR
RTS covers WFB and lets CWalker move to HLF
2RF is stacked and Mcinnes in Hooker is fine too

FRF is an issue but would trade or see what happens there, not worth spending $$ to buy cover now

    Round 18 trades

Having a bit of fun to finish the season, was going to make no trades this week but thought It better to finish 500 rolling dice with no trades over 1500th with some left over.
At least I won't die wondering and worth the gamble on some selections/trades to see how high I can go

    Tom Trbojevic
Will play him in the ctrs' going forward but help cover fullback. Capable of a big score on his day and plays round 18 which every point is huge.

    Josh Mansour
Same as above but more of a POD to try to climb the rankings, gambling on him making some big plays but all or nothing at this stage

I also had Merrin as captain, but did the loophole with Crichton's 54 instead.
The only other time I captained him was in round 14 vs Raiders for a score of fricken 25.
Merrin is really starting to piss me off lately and I'm sorry I ever got him. For weeks, he was getting limited minutes when Tyrone Peachey came on to replace him, but this week with Peachey in the centres, I thought finally this is it, no excuses, but lucky for me when Crichton got 54, I thought that's enough because I just don't trust Merrin and it turned out that way with a measley 38.
I probably should sell him, but I need the rest of my trades for other upgrades, so I guess I'm stuck with him this year, but I've learnt my lesson that it's going to take a lot for me to get Merrin ever again.

I agree Pacey, he has become frustrating to watch and given his effort/minutes has become a roller coaster in itself.
Hindsight sucks in ways as you look back and wonder if he really did turn a corner or if you got suckered in.
Feel Lamb/Elgey/Smat/Aubo did the same to me all year too so will probably avoid these types of 'safe' players offering false promises which seem to trap people each year. You only have to look at the players we actually thought were traps (FWinterstein/Uate/Hess etc) to see where we went wrong. Need to make the gamble as the safe and steady player does what he does on the book but still gives you crap to balance it out.

Have learnt some big lessons as well, and if I play next year will look to make some changes

Hoping Merrin can have a big finish to the year but not holding my breath

Know them feels haha, 2 left for me.

Round 19 trades = None at this stage.

Was going to trade Farah to Smith next week but that would involve a downgrade as well (leaving me no spare trades)

Thinking outside the box I can trade McInnes to Smith instead (in one trade) leaving me with a spare trade for any emergencies.
Farah is still a bit of a POD too and if he plays decent minutes could score similar.
Also has some attacking/kicking stats too which McInnes hasn't been getting involved in.

It's not just this week as well, with his price now sub 400 who do you trade to?
So trades aside and unlike Sally we are probably stuck with him.
Then when you lost patience and bench him he probably goes and scores a 70....

    Round 20 trades

    Shaun Lane
Big rangey player with a good engine, basically a poor mans Crichton but hoping he can be half as good over the remaining weeks.
A bit of a gamble downgrade here but thinking he can somehow stamp his name down in the starting side this year. Needed a downgrade to bring Smith in so will see if this will pay off and If I get a cut price keeper as bonus

    Cameron Smith
Needed to come back to steer my team home. Farah needed to go and after last nights game it proved right. Hoping for a big game from Captain Cam this arvo.

Zero trades remaining, basically screwed but will try and tread water from here on out

After a rough couple of rounds mid-season you are now a member of two of the most esteemed groups Booze! Congratulations on the 1100 club and the Weekly (I reckon it should still be called that).

Farah to Smith looking great. Love me some Shaun Lane, have been waiting for him to play again and really wished the Tigers had have made a play for him after the Warriors.

Cheers SI, yeah it's good to tick a couple more boxes and having scored a few 1050's before it's the elusive 1100 that has escaped me until now.

Regarding Lane, I have read a few articles from Barrett talking him up and with Sironen out for a while, Manly in decent form and Brown coming back from injury there is a good chance he keeps it.
He would have been good at the tigers, gives them some strike power out wide and some attack.

Anyways we will see what happens, just need to dodge those season ending injuries for a few weeks

Wow! A weekly rank of 1 in R19, and 15,438 the following week. What a fickle and unpredictable game this is.
