Further to the team lists discussion, its worth checking out the intrust super cup team lists (nsw and qld).  surely the players named there have less chance of pushing into the top 17 (eg gurgess last week)?

This week, for example Papalii, T.Williams, Crichton, Turgess (but not Gurgess), R.Jennings, Fensom, have all been named for their respective teams.  Be interesting to see what happens if anything to the Souths bench this week.

As have Ballin (in #14) and Hastings, which I guess means they are not too far away from first grade.

It doesn't need to be this week but I would rather trade either one in this week before they rise in cash again.

I reckon the scorers gave him a little help last thursday too. There's no way in the world he made 39 tackles and only missed 1. I counted during a 20min period and he got 8 tackles and 2 missed ( 1 definitely, the other contentious) During that time they gave him 12 tackles!

If he's playing 80 this week he's going to get targeted the back end of the game.

Yeah, and it's more relevant this year than ever. I always check NSW Cup, mainly to see what is happening with the Tigers, and then have a squizz through everyone else.

Hey lads, interested in your thoughts on this conundrum.

I regretfully selected Brenton Lawrence in my team and was continually thinking about how to remove him throughout Rd 1...until he eventually played and inevitably stunk it up significantly.

Now he actually looks like a chance of jagging some decent minutes thanks to Manly's prop crisis but should I just be cutting my losses instead???

I was concerned Suli wouldn't see much ball, but they went to that side pretty much the same as the other, if not more.

Thing with Moga is he plays centre and scored well without doing anything fantastic. Then you have his injury history.

Suli's spot is safer than Moga's I feel. But Suli had a try and 2 TA's.

    This week’s trades:

    Proctor => De Belin
    Pulu => Chris Smith

Proctor is named to start but a dodgy shoulder worries me. This uses all my cash but another low scoring week from Proctor and I won’t be able to do this trade. Means I can’t offload Python yet but he can’t drop any further. Need to rebound from a poor Week 1.

I'm on buy JDB mission this week. Early season I don't mid a couple of sideways trades to get in the top performing guns or cows even if it means selling a gun. This week I'll go:
Gallen & ET out - JDB & Bateman in

    Smith, Brailey
    Fifita, Wallace, Musgrove (F. Kaufusi)
JDB (c), Surgess, Sione, Bateman, Sironen (Yates)
    SJ, Lamb (Jacks, Field)
    Talakai, Cotric (Idris, Kelly)
    Gutherson, RTS, Hayne (Suli, Phythian)

i had a look at this pre rnd 1.

It differed from team to team, there didn't appear to be a clear cut 'rule'. For example, Ryley Jacks was named in qld cup but it was well known ahead of time that he was going to play for the storm. I don't know if him being named in Q CUP was also part of Bellamy's plan to keep his debut under wraps or whether the Falcons simply didn't know at that stage.

Interestingly last week Nikorima was named for Norths but this week he is not.

I always look at the q cup/nsw cup teams, you see some interesting names pop up.

Reading between the lines, that post seems to reek of SI volunteering to create a thread with updated NSW/QLD cup team lists....

    Shocked

Thanks in advance SI you bloody champion.

Well Smith being named in the 18-21 means he should end up getting a spot during Origin period. Have you considered Joe Stimson who is getting a run in J. Brom's absence? He could pick up more time if their are injuries or throughout the origin period.

I'm not a fan of killing off a position this early in the season to strengthen another position. Do you have some decent cows on the bench making money?

I feel early round trades should be geared towards chasing value as opposed to points.

Id hold personally. Surely he is in for big mins over the next two weeks

I'll certainly be looking at the final 17s over the weekend. If Stimson stays in the 17, he could be worth a punt.

Really like him and thought about him as well but he was 30 or so k more than I would have paid.

Barrett must hate him, but things couldn't have come together any better for him to get more like 45 minutes the next few weeks. But the same could be said for Musgrove.

You will still struggle to get your money back even if BLaw gets the minutes over the next fortnight. I would go to Musgrove personally and pocket the 60k. A bit sideways, but if you don't have too many other fires to put out...

Yeah, good point.  Might explain why they went down his side as much as the experienced Kev and Nofo. Moga had no massive plays, Suli had a try and 2 TA's. Certainly not going to happen every week.
